My twenty something publishing self, stuffing endless envelopes with bound proofs while sat on the floor of a office would probably have their mind blown if they knew this.

Today I am enormously grateful for the joys/privileges of my job: I'm currently going through the new draft of a fantastic debut novel I am publishing next summer and then this evening I'm going to a special screening of The Woman in Cabin 10, one of the most fun books I've published.

Richard is also up for the Bloody Scotland Debut Prize announced TODAY so I basically have all of my fingers and toes crossed for at least one of these two exceptional prizes.

My colleague is publishing a historical Arctic horror novel next year, and she just pitched it to everyone as 'Michelle Paver meets Sarah Waters' and I am SOLD.

I also have become slightly obsessed with Long Story Short on Netflix. It's so funny! And also melancholy, and moving, and just really brilliant. Thoroughly recommended for anyone looking for some smart new tv.

I also read some great books while I was off for a few days - Selfish Girls (excellent on tangled sibling relationships); the new novel by Hayley Scrivenor, Girl Falling, and Abigail Dean's The Death of Us, which was very tough to read at times but incredibly moving.

Very much enjoying the Back to School vibes of September at Raven HQ - the leaves are falling, good clothes are on the horizon & we have some cracking books publishing this Autumn including a folk horror anthology, the new novel from @spookypurcell.bsky.social + Joey Batey's debut, It's Not a Cult.

(Oh and writing complaint emails about the fact a courier company left my brand new bike in a box outside my house in full view of everyone - didn't even close our gate - and unsurprisingly, it was stolen immediately. Thanks guys)
