Pourquoi c’est important ? Avec le réchauffement climatique, Ostreopsis pourrait s’installer durablement sur nos côtes. Il est donc essentiel d’anticiper, de surveiller et de s’adapter.

Ce programme de recherche collaboratif est financé à 65% par l’Union Européenne via les fonds POCTEFA.

L'objectif est de mieux comprendre le cycle de vie de la microalgue Ostreopsis, ses impacts sur la santé humaine et la faune marine, et développer :
- des outils de quantification des deux espèces présentes sur la Côte Basque,
- des systèmes d’alerte basés sur les conditions hydro-climatiques.

Quotidiennement en juillet des prélèvements d’eau et d’algues sont réalisés sur la plage d’Erromardie à Saint-Jean-de-Luz dans le cadre du programme transfrontalier Ostreobila, porté par la Communauté Pays Basque.
