The best Valentine's trip I've ever had was with my girls to Portugal. Though we took the week. 10/10 would recommend

Honestly a meaningless holiday for me romantically but I do like planning a girl's trip for that weekend

See but I don't relate to that about other trek shows, I liked voyager, ds9, tos, and even enterprise within the first season. For me next generation is unique in this way. I'll still keep with it though out of curiosity

Ah, that was probably the smarter way to go. I started with the original series, but when I didn't love the next generation I decided to try the others.

Someone did just say that Picard becomes himself/the character people love in season 4 so I'll keep carrying on

That's great to know actually. I figured he couldn't be people's favorite for no reason. I still plan to watch tng so I'll look forward to season 4

For some reason, Picard is also not that capturing to me. I liked Kirk, Sisko, and Janeway pretty immediately, but maybe Picard is a slow build?

I just reached the second season! I think the biggest issue may be that I started DS9 at the same time which has a slower start but the single location lets them build these long interesting arcs with the Bajorans, etc. Next Gen is very episode of the week for me with characters I'm not keen on yet

In fairness to next gen, I've not made it very far (season 2) in comparison to the others. But that's also because I'm aggressively bored when watching it 😭

To me, it seems like the ranking of old trek should easily be:
DS9
Voyager
TOS
Next Gen
Enterprise

It's been about 4 years now, taking my slow little star trek journey and I have to say: I'm still struggling to understand why next generation is everyone's favorite.

In other news, something minorly annoying that has changed in my lifetime is the amount of people who drive with their windows up.

My siblings and I are all on my mom's plan, but we also pay our part of the bill. Her service is grandfathered in and she gets more benefits at less cost. There was never any sense in switching to our own.

Picked up the joy luck club a couple days ago, and it feels like a shining example of what a multi pov book should be. No filler chapters, everyone gets a meaningful story, and after each chapter you really contend with each person's part in the narrative.

Eh, I didn't feel that way about strange new worlds or lower decks. I did feel that way about the later seasons of discovery and this Starfleet academy though. Academy is the worst offender in this way by far

Starfleet academy is interesting but I wish they would let things breathe. Interesting plot points resolved in 2 minutes is madness
