Pollard pruning is a traditionally European style. It is a way of controlling the overall size of the tree, useful in crowded cities.

Impressive how few strokes gives an impression and feel of a subject. I aim to be as decisive in my line work

I love the green Sailor Fude. Sadly I couldn’t find one here in Australia so I had to get a brown one. Of course, I also had to get samples of brown inks to match!

Romeo is my model to trial my fountain pen. This is an unbranded fude (foo-day) nib that allows the strokes to be both fine and broad, resembling a brush (fude in Japanese)

When it’s 42°c outside I choose to sit in the aircon to paint in my mini sketchbook. I found a shrubbery in the food court, which allowed me to block out all the people around me.
