Entirely too true. In her book Always Coming Home, Ursula le Guin spoke of a woman "learning to be ill," and it has stayed with me. Illness really is a constantly evolving set of skills we must learn. And others to unlearn.

We are so unprepared. Even without the massive denial, and hostility towards disabled people, everything we've ever been taught about illness is in direct opposition to the reality of ME. Everyone is going to push, because that's all we know how to do. And we all know how that goes.

It's horrifying that this test is still being done. I remember when the first findings were presented, and immediately knew the harm that went with it for the patient.

Oh, me as well. My onset was so gradual I can't even remember when it began. I did have a number of random infections over several years, and a period of intense life stress and upheaval. At some point, I was just undeniably sick.

Alas, my experience on this platform so far hasn't been encouraging. I'm seeing a lot of publicity accounts like yours, people selling themselves, and a lot of drivel, AI glurge, and pointless nonsense. For meaningful personal engagement, I've found Mastodon a much better fit.

This is #POTS, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. I'm just sitting in a chair at my sewing machine and my pulse is 104. It can cause days of exhaustion from minor effort. It's a common feature of #ME_CFS and other illnesses. #ChonicIllness

BTW, do you happen to know where I can buy a print? I've been searching the art sites all afternoon, and haven't seen it yet. I like fine art America because they sell metal prints, which really pop, and they have lots by this artist, but not that one.

I'm just fed up with the hyperbole. If they're going to say somebody DESTROYED whoever, and all that really happened is that they said something mildly insulting, or just pointed out the obvious, they've wasted my time. If someone is really destroyed, we don't have to worry about them anymore.

I wish I didn't agree with him, but I do. I just don't see any realistic path to avoid the multitude of calamities bearing down upon us.

Thank you for posting this. I think I just fell in love with this artist, and this work. I was looking for a new artwork for my desk, and I think this might be the one.

I have me/cfs, and I'm so grateful my kids were older when I became ill. Parenting was quite hard enough when I was still somewhat healthy. I can't imagine trying to care for young children with this illness. What a nightmare for the whole family.

Watching S9E2 of #QueerEye, and all I can think is, "somebody PLEASE tell me this lovely, vulnerable woman is fully divorced, and that house is in her name." Because I can just see her dirt bag ex showing up to tear her down all over again. Because abusers are like that.
