The Lord of the Rings was about the forces of darkness being unable to imagine its enemies would ever unite together to destroy the most powerful weapon in the world rather than be corrupted by it. Dune was about imperial colonialism over the exploitation of resources and how power ultimately would corrupt any ruler who once thought themselves as moral fighting on the behalf of the colonized. Star Wars was about the rise of imperial fascism and a guerilla roots rebellion rising to ultimately destroy and liberate the people from it. The third film compares the Empire to America and the Rebels to Viet Con. The Matrix Trilogy is about how systems of control ultimately serve to even make liberation from them a feature of the same system. On an individual level it’s also a trans allegory. Peter Thiel and Elon Musk are evil nerds with no media literacy that are trying to destroy the planet because they thought the bad guys had a point.

Mainline vs spinoff for Pokemon is specifically about whether the main story of the game connects to the rest and if the added Pokemon become part of the dex. Not whether the mechanics are the same.

Zygarde is made of hundreds of little autonomous cells like this. There are also five with different colored cores that make the colors in the chest mouth of the 100% form. It uses the cells to watch over the region.

It is a mainline game, but it exists kinda between gens. Technically it's still gen 9 in the way Arceus was still gen 8, but the Pokemon aren't compatible with previous games, only future ones.

The game itself is fun, but... I don't get to keep Megas. And there are no ribbons, at least at the moment. So the part of me that gets the games for those things is disappointed.

I need a feed of Pokemon people who aren't just shitting on a game they don't want and whining about voice acting all day long, like, damn, have a little joy or go outside where I can't hear you.

You couldn't have given us new Kalos versions of the starters? Evolved Aromatisse or Slurpuff or a half dozen other unfinished feeling Kalos Pokemon? No, instead we put all the energy into some stuff you won't get to keep outside this title (except, like, Champions, I guess).

Also, no ribbons.

I'm having fun with the new Pokemon game, but there is a level of disappointment in not getting any new actual Pokemon. Not even the starters got new evolutions. The whole thing relies on ephemeral Megas, and those will never be as neat to me as new actual evolutions.

I started ZA, and the player is Remarkably Unswaggy until you can get more clothes.
