Carole Cadwalladr - Broligarchs, AI, and a Techno-Authoritarian Surveillance State | The Daily Show
Jon Stewart is a legend & the way this show is trying to explain to a mainstream audience the gravity what is happening in the US is amazing. It was both thrilling & terrifying to be part of it. Thank you @TheDailyShow π

They called her a mad cat woman and tried to destroy her reputation. Then they dragged her through the courts and tried to destroy her life. But @carolecadwalla.bsky.social is standing tall and continues telling the inconvenient truth. A must see.

Also - can I just say - I work and have worked in this space. Around ASB, Policing, etc. I know what I'm talking about. I've met and spoken with these people. You evidently have not. A tag and community order will not stop them going back to the shop the next day after release from custody.
21.05.2025 22:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
That's factually incorrect. It's a misconception. The Β£200 "limit" was introduced in the ASB, Crime and Policing Act (2014). It's not a new thing. If it's under Β£200 the max sentence is 6 months - which this new arrangement would do away with - legalising shoplifting.
21.05.2025 22:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Do you understand that tagging people and giving them community orders does not deter the most prolific offenders? You do understand that sentencing people without restrictions on liberty gives them the freedom to re-offend should they choose?
21.05.2025 22:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
This is why Greggs are moving their food behind the counter. You'll rarely get over 12 months for shoplifting, so the Government is essentially legalising shoplifting.

So I could vote for the real thing, or I could vote for you who are trying to emulate the real thing? I think Iβll vote for the real thing please. Honestly Starmer needs to ditch these idiot βadvisorsβ. Another sound strategy by Morgan McSweeneyβ¦

You have your view I have mine. You carry on blaming Lewis Goodall for Reform. The National Press are not regulated, and the 2nd part of Levenson is not going ahead because of Labour & Starmer's decision. So if you want better Press look at who you voted for in July.
03.05.2025 00:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
Ok you have your view and I have mine. Talk into the echo chamber and when Farage becomes PM in 4 years time we can both commiserate together. News Agents being excoriating of Reform/Farage over the last year would not have made a single dent in todays results.
03.05.2025 00:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Have you actually read his replies to his posts? The majority are abusive including swearing and one post I've had to report. No it isn't ridiculous - you're saying if he did more podcasts challenging Farage less people would vote Reform - that isn't the case! You're missing the point.
03.05.2025 00:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I vote Left. You're falling into the same trap of every Leftie and it's why Trump won, and why Farage will win. You're trying to shame people into changing course and it does not work. I'm not excusing anybody. Lewis was flippant but piling in won't work. Reform voters don't listen to News Agents.
03.05.2025 00:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
It isn't; but what is abusing Lewis Goodall on social media going to achieve? Suddenly he and every journalist in the UK will now start challenging Farage in every interview? The people who voted Reform are not listening to News Agents/LBC or reading newspapers.
03.05.2025 00:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Post reported to BlueSky moderation. Let's see if the platform is better than X or not. Just unnecessary abuse isn't it really. If you think News Agents & LBC questioning Farage robustly would have changed the results you might as well be living on Mars mate.
02.05.2025 23:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Yes it is. Telling somebody they're lying, exaggerating, oversimplifying, and inventing strawmen is abusive for what I've seen on this platform so far. It's also unlikely to achieve a goal of persuading Lewis to challenge Farage more. We get the media we deserve in the UK - these replies prove it.
02.05.2025 23:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1
Woah woah; don't usually see abuse like this on BlueSky. The media aren't to blame for Reform doing well in these elections. Neither is @lewisgoodall.com. Turnout was extremely low. My area voted fully Reform - 20-25% turnout. No viable alternative. Tory/Labour much the same at present.

I think you missed the most egregious of his tattoos. "Kafir" an Arabic term for Unbeliever or Infidel directly under his "Deus Vult" tattoo. It's clearly Islamophobic. This is why the US lost in Afghanistan if you've idiots like this running around. No hearts and minds being won here.

Trump wonβt rule out seeking a third term in the White House, tells NBC News βthere are methodsβ for doing so
President Donald Trump said in a Sunday-morning phone call that he was βnot jokingβ about a third term, adding that βit is far too early to think about it.β
President Trump did not rule out the possibility of seeking a third term in the White House, which is prohibited by the Constitution under the 22nd Amendment, saying in an exclusive interview with NBC News that there were methods for doing so and clarifying that he was βnot joking.β
