Good palliative care can alleviate the pain of dying – this bill means Labour must fund it | Rachel Clarke Making dying easier is not the solution when NHS, social and palliative care are simply not there for patients

My direct appeal to @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social
& Keir_Starmer in the light of yesterday's vote on AD.

If they sincerely care about dying people, surely now they will publicly & urgently commit to properly funding our threadbare, neglected palliative care?

People advocate for AD in theory while the reality of those of us caring for vulnerable loved-ones mitigates against it. I have seen how pressure even from palliative care staff to ‘consider stopping treatment’ weighs heavily on a person beholden to so many for their survival.

We have used a hospital at home service and found it immensely beneficial and far more suitable for some situations than an ER visit. It allows far better continuity of care in the case of a serious chronic disease such as glioblastoma.

Hello - my partner is receiving experimental immunotherapy for glioblastoma and I’m interested to learn as much as I can. Thank you for your work.

David Lynch describes going to to Bob’s Big Boy to drink vast sums of coffee and chocolate milkshakes

Picked up this little book of writers’ writing rituals, & I think most of em are liars — “up at dawn, 6 hours at my desk, followed by calisthenics, liquor, & reading edifying works.” But David Lynch delivers the goods.

The ambulance rattled along New York's broken streets. The siren was on.

He wore the indignity of the hospital.

At home, Aaron and his colleague were gentle. Aaron held Rod's left arm through each door. We all came into the dark and empty living room, which had been waiting for us.
