Many home care workers are immigrants. Now, some are afraid to go to work. Last year 65% of people working for Chicago area home care agencies weren’t citizens. There are early signs that a federal campaign against immigration is keeping them off the job.

Immigrants make up a disproportionate share of home health care aides. In the Chicago metro area, 65% of the 24,000 people who worked for home care agencies in 2024 were not citizens, according to a WBEZ/Sun-Times analysis of U.S. Census data. trib.al/btYWfT9

Skin Deep featuring Buddy Guy | Playing For Change | Song Across the USA 🎶🌍 Order our latest album Songs For Humanity now! https://shop.playingforchange.com/collections/songs-for-humanity 🎧✨ Playing For Change and Buddy Guy united to record and film his anthem, “Skin Deep” across the USA. The song includes over 50 musicians from coast to coast featuring Buddy Guy, Tom Morello, Billy Branch, Chicago Children’s Choir, and Roots Gospel Voices of Mississippi. Originally, this was going to be a song across Chicago to bring light to all the violent shootings across the city but as time marched on, along with various shootings across our country, we realized we needed to expand our vision and use this song as a tool to unite our divided nation. "Skin Deep" is the first song from our Listen to the Music series — our newest body of work comprising 12 new Songs Around The World and featuring Buddy Guy, The Doobie Brothers, Warren Haynes, Dr. John, Jack Johnson, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and many more. All music in this series was recorded live outside with a mobile studio and features over 200 musicians from 25 different countries. The album is available now with one new video from the series dropping every month! 100% of Playing For Change’s profits from this album will go to the Playing For Change Foundation, helping to support music education across the globe. There might be somebody who knows somebody who met Ryne Sandberg and had a bad experience but we’ve never met them.

By all accounts Ryno was a very nice man in person and one heck of a ballplayer. May his memory be a blessing to his family and the fans.

Flint Finishes Lead Pipe Replacement in Historic Milestone A decade after lead contaminated water was found in Flint's water system, the legal battle to replace lead water pipes is finished, a landmark milestone for a city defined by its dangerous water.

Earlier this month, Flint, Michigan finished replacing its lead pipes to ensure clean drinking water for the community.

Congratulations to the residents, activists, and public servants who made this happen. www.nrdc.org/press-releas...

Bill James: "If Dick Allen is a Hall of Famer, I'm a lug nut."

Before the "Super Bowl Shuffle," there was "Pennant Fever," recorded by Chicago Cub players OTD in the memorable year of 1969.
It is believed to be the only song to name-drop reserve outfielder Al Spangler, who BTW, turned 92 on July 8.
