The world currently feels like it runs on a {bullshitting the school project at the last minute by turning in something that technically meets the requirements even though it provides no real value to anyone}-based economic system.

So it's not just overuse of stimulation telling you "You Did It!" that leads to this mindset, it's also underuse of it.

Experiences like of playing something long after you should have stopped, just because the game made it compulsive to do so. People want an excuse to stop so they don't get tricked into doing hours of unfun grinding out of habit.

In the defense? of this person, a lot of games now, and media in general, exist to keep you perpetually unsatisfied so you keep going back for more. I think that, for some, that means that the idea of having to decide for ourselves when we're done gets associated with bad past experiences.

I think a lot of the stuff on the internet now is essentially react content. Movie dissections, music reviews, political reactions... the appeal is you get to vicariously experience sharing something you love (or hate) with a receptive friend. But without the actual friend.
