This National Intern Day (it really is!), we are bidding our fantastic interns, Helal and Knut, a bittersweet farewell. Both have enjoyed their time in D.C. and learned a lot. We will miss them, but we know that great things await!

Our Embassy was glad to take part in the U.S. premiere of "Facing War" – a documentary capturing a critical year of Jens Stoltenberg’s term as NATO Secretary General.
The screening, part of @dcdoxfest.bsky.social, opened with remarks from director Tommy Gulliksen and Ambassador Anniken Huitfeldt.

Horrified and saddened by what appears to be a politically motivated assassination of State Rep. Hortman and her husband and the attack on State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife today. Our thoughts are with their loved ones.

Shocked and deeply saddened by the murder of two Israeli Embassy employees outside the Capital Jewish Museum last night. I condemn this targeted attack against the Jewish community. My heart is with the families and loved ones of the victims. May their memories be a blessing.

On May 15, Norway became the 55th signatory of the Artemis Accords at a ceremony at the Norwegian Space Agency in Oslo, Norway.

Today, May 8, is Norway’s Liberation and Veterans Day. It's a time to remember and appreciate the freedoms granted to us through the armed forces' efforts and sacrifices. The Embassy marked the occasion with a wreath-laying in front of Crown Princess Märtha's statue this morning.

To mark 200 years of emigration from Norway to the United States, the Embassy hosted an event last night, featuring Hans Majestet Kongens Garde and the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. Remarks from SecDef Pete Hegseth, Amb. Anniken Huitfeldt, and RADM Ole Morten Sandquist.

Eighty years of peace and freedom! Happy Liberation and Veterans Day.

On May 8, 1945, all of Norway was again a free nation, after 5 years under Nazi occupation.

This day also honors our veterans — those who have served and who continue to serve, in the defense of Norway’s freedom and security.
