Fun fact:
Gambling is illegal in Hawaii but totally legal in Nevada.
Question:
Should Hawaii be able to prosecute
Hawaiians who go to Vegas to gamble?
If you answer NO, you are just scratching the surface of the
breathtaking unconstitutionality of the Georgia abortion ban

My wedding did crash me for 2 weeks but it was my first major crash in over a year and a half and I am starting to feel normal again. Long COVID, MECFS, fibromyalgia the gifts that keep on giving…

That’s exactly the mindset I have to have. It might take me longer to do things, but grateful that I’m able. I’m not quite out and about yet, but getting there. Do you still use your portable chair? I’m thinking I might finally be ready for it? Remind me what it’s called again? Tele-something?

It’s Election Day, and my most lib trait by far is how much I love it, and so I’m thinking about disabled grief. Developing very severe ME/CFS really is a lot like dying but having to watch the world keep turning without you.

A post on Mastodon by small cypress (@small_cypress@indieweb.social):

As an art teacher I was worried AI would come up as an issue of "why should I learn how to draw when I can use AI instead."

But the real issue is that my middle schoolers CONSTANTLY believe all art I show them is AI. Digital art. Photography. Oil paintings from the Western canon. "A human couldn't do that"

Being convinced that humans can't make great art is kind of terrifying

I spotted this on Mastodon and I find it horrible, not least for the speed with which this has happened.

I’m doing okay mostly, as long as I respect my energy envelope & heart rate. Some of my major symptoms have stabilized. Slow and steady.

thanks for asking, how have you been?

Tonight a neighbor was walking past my home with his family and stopped in his tracks when he saw me. He seemed genuinely happy to see me outside. He asked about Long Covid and promised me he would keep up with the research to share with others. We need more people like him πŸ’›

I was a (paid) test user for this trial and am thrilled w/the accommodations it makes to include people as severely ill as I am!

If you’re in the US and have Long Covid, check it out and share w/friends!

Also: if you don’t see your state yet, you can sign up to be alerted when yours is added!

New followers here’s an intro on me and what I post about:

I have #SevereMECFS and am housebound. (It sucks)

I have an MD, but don’t practice medicine. Other health problems took me out during residency. (Seriously, my life follows Murphy’s Law)

Anyone else do that thing where you just decide you're not going to be sick anymore and decree that you're just going to just Do The Things, but then you'll do something innocuous like put a wash on on and nearly die in in the process and remember you are actually quite sick?

Over 71 million Americans are paid less than a living wage, and are forced into social safety nets like SNAP.

If you think too many people are receiving SNAP benefits, don’t shame them.

Shame their employers paying them poverty wages and forcing taxpayers to subsidize the rest.

A mother of 8 was deported within 24 hours of reporting sexual harassment by an ICE contracto

She was following the rules & going through the process to get her green card

Someone working on behalf of ICE abused her.

She spoke out and was kicked out of the country.

It’s retaliation & it’s wrong

Things are so mean-spirited right now, this made me tear up. In the gratuitously cruel age of Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Mike Johnson, it's comforting to be reminded that there still are decent human beings that walk amongst us. Thank you, Heretic Coffee in Portland.

Researchers reviewed 69 studies across 45 countries and found long COVID was more common in women, middle-aged and older adults.

Obesity, lung disease, anxiety, depression, and no vaccination raised risk, while Omicron infection lowered it.
