I'd love to connect with anyone else studying H2F or using big data, health economics, or epidemiology studying military health

I'll be at the Military Health System Research Symposium (#MHSRS) this week presenting on how the Army's Health and Holistic Fitness Program (H2F) has helped improve Soldiers' metabolic health and how health economics can be used to evaluate Solider health and performance.

Very honored to have been selected as one of Old Dominion University's top 40 under 40.

I completed a BA in Economics with a minor in Applied Math in 2010, MBA in 2013 and a MA in Economics in 2013.

I can't be more grateful for my time at ODU and the preparation it gave me for a PhD and my career

One of my favorite datasets: baby names. In 2007, the Social Security Administration reported 34,975. In 1881, there were only 1,934.

(Note: for privacy they omit any with <5 entries, though.)

Over time, particularly since the 70s, parents have opted for more unique names.

What do you need to know about tariffs? On April 2, 2025, President Donald Trump announced a sweeping set of tariffs on 185 countries that will make the effective tariff rate in the US higher than it has been in over 100 years.

💡What do you need to know about tariffs?

The conversations around tariffs can be confusing and often are clouded with political bias. Given the Trump administration's announcement of new tariffs this week, it's worth diving into this deeper in my new post👇🏻

Measles requires 95% vaccination rates for herd immunity.

It has a 16.2% case fatality rate for unvaccinated children under 5 years and 24% for children under 9 months (who are unable to be vaccinated).

30% of the survivors experience severe complications like blindness, deafness, or encephalitis.

Topics - EPI Library The EPI Data Library offers comprehensive, up-to-date labor data from Economic Policy Institute analysis, covering wages, inequality, and economic trends across demographics.

This isn't hype: My colleagues have created an amazing @epi.org Data Library that's super easy to use but very flexible. It covers wages, inequality, and economic trends across demographic groups and states, including fairly detailed subgroups. Brand new--here it is!! data.epi.org

As a society, how do we deal with this type of information gap if the reality some people are living in isn't the truth?

The true information is easily available from a quick Google search, yet we continue to survey after survey where there are results like this. (1/2)
