A β˜… review of V/H/S/HALLOWEEN (2025) Anthology films are always a mixed bag, but my feelings about the V/H/S series as a whole have been that the bag is mostly loaded up with Bit-O-Honey, Mary Janes, pennies, and Necco wafers. There's us...

#31daysofhalloween #31DaysOfHorror another Halloween means another installment of the V/H/S anthology on Shudder, this time centered around Halloween itself. Man, did it suck. Here's my full review.

A β˜…β˜…β˜… review of Mute Witness (1995) My most recent viewing of this film was on 'The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs', and Joe Bob's enthusiasm for it, and his recounting of the film's making, almost make me wish I liked it more. Don't...

#31daysofhalloween #31DaysOfHorror

We spent Friday night with Joe Bob Briggs watching 'Mute Witness', a mid nineties horror adjacent thriller. Still a solid movie, but not as good as I remembered it. My review is here.

Thursday night's movie was Dario Argento's 'Phenomena', aka the one with the bugs and the chimp. It's a bit of a knock-off of Argento's own 'Suspiria', and a bit WTF at times, but I enjoyed it more than I remembered. Review here.

A β˜…β˜…Β½ review of House on Eden (2025) If one is rating a movie based on whether or not it achieves what it sets out to do, my 2 1/2 out of 5 rating is probably a little low. Because if my sense is correct, this is trying to be a 'Blair Wi...

#31daysofhalloween #31DaysOfHorror our first official Halloween watch was 'House on Eden', a new found footage movie streaming on Shudder. I was not a fan, but I've definitely seen worse. Here's my full review.

My watch for this past Wednesday was 'The WNUF Halloween Special'. If you've never seen this spot on recreation of a local TV news broadcast circa 1987, give yourself a Halloween treat and check it out. My full review is here.

On Monday @camevil.bsky.social and I watched 'Event Horizon' (her pick, although I was kind of thinking of revisiting it anyway).

Alas, the film was not as good as I had remembered or hoped. You can read my full review here.

Saturday's watch was 'Hatchet for the Honeymoon'. It's a Mario Bava movie, so I knew it wasn't going to be complete garbage. But I do feel it's one of the maestro's lesser works. Here's my full review if you're interested.

You might think that the people who said "If you don't test for COVID, then there won't be any COVID cases" would understand why we have so many more autism diagnoses today relative to 30 yrs ago.

But then, MAHA is a tangle of contradictions, isn't it?

Last night's spooky season watch was my first time checking out 'Hell Night'. I figured if it was good enough for the Misfits (during their Michale Graves era) to write a song about, it had to be alright. That was not the case. Full review on my Letterboxd page.
