We spent Friday night with Joe Bob Briggs watching 'Mute Witness', a mid nineties horror adjacent thriller. Still a solid movie, but not as good as I remembered it. My review is here.

Thursday night's movie was Dario Argento's 'Phenomena', aka the one with the bugs and the chimp. It's a bit of a knock-off of Argento's own 'Suspiria', and a bit WTF at times, but I enjoyed it more than I remembered. Review here.

#31daysofhalloween #31DaysOfHorror our first official Halloween watch was 'House on Eden', a new found footage movie streaming on Shudder. I was not a fan, but I've definitely seen worse. Here's my full review.

My watch for this past Wednesday was 'The WNUF Halloween Special'. If you've never seen this spot on recreation of a local TV news broadcast circa 1987, give yourself a Halloween treat and check it out. My full review is here.

On Monday @camevil.bsky.social and I watched 'Event Horizon' (her pick, although I was kind of thinking of revisiting it anyway).
Alas, the film was not as good as I had remembered or hoped. You can read my full review here.

Saturday's watch was 'Hatchet for the Honeymoon'. It's a Mario Bava movie, so I knew it wasn't going to be complete garbage. But I do feel it's one of the maestro's lesser works. Here's my full review if you're interested.

I can only hear the line "Am I watching things on television that are different from what's happening?" in the confused quiet voice my mom had went her dementia got really bad.

Last night's scary movie was 'It, The Terror From Beyond Space'. It's sort of a fifties sci-fi version of 'Alien', with all the good and bad (mostly bad) that entails.

You might think that the people who said "If you don't test for COVID, then there won't be any COVID cases" would understand why we have so many more autism diagnoses today relative to 30 yrs ago.
But then, MAHA is a tangle of contradictions, isn't it?

Last night's spooky season watch was my first time checking out 'Hell Night'. I figured if it was good enough for the Misfits (during their Michale Graves era) to write a song about, it had to be alright. That was not the case. Full review on my Letterboxd page.

I haven't updated my spooky season viewing in 2 weeks. Real life always intrudes on my silliness to some degree, but this is bad. I have at least kept on top of my letterboxd account so if you want my full reviews, go here: letterboxd.com/bobnoxious23/. I'll try to do better going forward.
22.09.2025 21:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Last night's watch was 'Alien: Covenant'. I already had a review written from my initial watch back in 2017, and reading over it, it still sums up my feelings quite well. Click the link if you want to read it.

Last night's watch was 'Madhouse', a Vincent Price film I had somehow never seen. It wasn't all that great, but it's still a Vincent Price film, so it's not completely devoid of interest. If you want my full review, here's the link:

Last night's watch was 'Prometheus'. Since @camevil.bsky.social and I have been enjoying Alien: Earth on FX, she wanted to revisit the series.
Felt about the same as when I saw this in a theater. Some great ideas and characters, but a bit clunky. Still pretty good despite its flaws.
We're not quite into "31 Days of Halloween" yet, but I'm starting the "horror movie a day" thing early (which some would argue I almost do all year, but I digress).
Not a great start, to be honest, but I've definitely seen worse.
