π« Civilian abducted during occupation of Bucha brought back to Ukraine
03.10.2025 12:04 β π 170 π 43 π¬ 4 π 1As someone who kind of wrote a book on it, let me share the number one sign someone is lying to you about politics:
When they claim that, through some unspecified alchemy, paradise and prosperity can be achieved through suffering exclusively by other people.
It certainly helped. Saved them in the 7YW, but not long later there was a string of poor campaigns in the 1790s (including a failed campaign in Poland-Lithuania in 1794, but Russians won the war for them) and of course the disaster of 1806-7. They've learnt, but the size of later wars broke them.

Serbia is a country without the rule of law, and its young people have been taking risks for the better part of a year in the hopes of creating a future where they can live normally in their own country.

The usual Russian response when something goes bad - why not start another war if you are already losing an earlier one?
03.10.2025 10:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hi all, just sent out this free post to explain what matters (and what does not) in the Ukrainian campaign against Russian oil refineries. It discusses why the campaign now seems more successful, but also what else needs to happen to have a greater strategic effect. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

03.10.2025 08:47 β π 545 π 87 π¬ 41 π 2It is about Czech automotive industry. There is a blend of nativist 'Czechia first', 'protect our industry from foreigners' and libertarianism.
Excellent Czechostacja YouTube channel run by journalist Jakub Medek explained it quite well.

That is how it was negotiated in 1943. Simply Stalin grabbed what he was allowed to take (after all who lived where was not important to him) and the current Russian leadership is the same.
It is a mistake not to notice this opportunism.
In case of Ukraine they shouldn't be allowed to get anything.
I happen to be from Poland, so I am aware what was Poland's territory in 1939 thank you. The point is that Soviets were forced by the Allies to return substantial territory to Poland.
They were never adamant about the shape of the border, Soviets were very opportunistic in this regard.
I named territories which were returned - Podlasie province with BiaΕystok, border town of PrzemyΕl and some other smaller pieces of land.
I used the names of parts of Poland which Soviet Union in 1939 claimed as 'eternally theirs' only to return it to 1946 because suddenly they were not 'theirs'.
π₯π On X/Twitter, VisegrΓ‘d24 became famous for its anti-Muslim and anti-migration stance as well as waves of disinformation. A recent report brings to light people, funding and political actors tied to their Central Europe-based but international network. @vsquare.bsky.social

Captive auience in a system which supports loyalty above anything else. They must realise the ship is sinking, but try to gain as much as possible before fighting over remaining rescue boats while Russia collapses for the third time in last 110 years.
03.10.2025 05:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0He does. In the infamus interview with Tucker Carlson he also justified Hitler's policy regarding Poland.
Frankly the stupid interview was so full of anti-historical nonsense it is incredible somone could believe it - yet some praised Putin for 'knowledge'.
That is one very good point. But the second is that the attack would have to go through Lithuania because there are no roads or railways in Poland which would connect Russian controled Belarus with the exclave.
That is why Lithuania has to be supported even more when we hear this nonsense.
In the late 1990s Russia issued some 'proposals' to Poland to build (currently there is no direct road or railway which leads there) a transnational corridor to the Kaliningrad exclave, which was exactly the same what Hitler 'proposed' when it comes to the connection to this region.
03.10.2025 05:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes. Soviet statements issued to Poland in 1939 are incredibly similar to what Russia claimed about Ukraine in 2014. Similar to Russian 'peace proposal' from 2022 which was similar to what Soviets proposed Poland in 1920, when they felt invincible, just before they lost the war.
03.10.2025 05:45 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That is more than a slip of a tongue because it is another time he justifies Hitler's aggression. There is some deep psychological issue here.
03.10.2025 05:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That is not true. Soviet Union did return the entire province of Podlasie as well as a number of towns such as PrzemyΕl in 1945-46.
Which is... worse for them because they claimed it was all 'rightfully their' when they took it in 1939, but somehow was not in 1946.
Putin somehow manages to reach levels of people educated by internet memes, despite the fact he doesn't use the internet and all he gets from this source is... printed for him.
03.10.2025 05:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Which is quite accurate since the leaders could be brilliant when it comes to tactical, even operational level, but were unable to understand strategy.
The creeping fear of total defeat was always there, at least since the Miracle of the House of Brandenburg.
Sad part is that American exceptionalism is incredibly strong in both parts of this US political war. People who cannot perceive that it is much larger struggle involving many countries fighting against autocracy and some do that on a battlefield, especially Ukraine.
03.10.2025 05:15 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It will be damn hard, but Orban's regime is much more fragile than people believe. There are plenty of people who would confess and testify just to avoid punishment.
Autocracy is always brittle.
At this point they pick and choose reasons to hate Europe. If you named countries which supported USA he'd blame them for not opposing the 2003 war, if you named countries which opposed the war he would blame them for not joining the 2003 invasion.
They are just adult crybabies.
In the last days of my presence on ex-Twitter I had a conversation with a guy who told me I am 'a globalist' (is that current code word for Jews?) because I reminded him that in fact we did help USA after 9/11 when United States activated article 5 for the first time in NATO's history. That's mad.
03.10.2025 05:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What? All cases of domestic would be terrorists in Poland were far-right guys who were trying to murder ordinary people, which failed. To your knowledge we have muslim immigrants since the XIVth century - without issues.
It must be so confusing to apply all those anti-European tropes with a shotgun.
