23.02.2026 06:38 β π 88 π 15 π¬ 2 π 1Another happier shot: When Uncle Bill was still with us, before he (a hang-gliding coach in Kitty Hawk) had a fatal accident with a tree when I was about 10. π Here he is reading to my little brother at the Selma parsonage, amidst his own struggles with faith. My little brother sent it to me today.
22.02.2026 23:09 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks so much for writing.
22.02.2026 22:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have cried a lot this weekend, and apologized to still-faithful family for losing my sh*t about racist pastor SAM KETCHAM. Here's a photo of me and my brother from happier times in the Selma parsonage in the 1980s. MLK was there in the sixties. Why do I still cry about the RPCNA. But I do.

22.02.2026 15:00 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We've got some more Earn-A-Bike and Earn-A-Computer spots that just opened up for classes starting in March! Our first alumni ride of 2026 is now open for registration as well. Learn more and register at www.bworks.org/classes/ and spread the word! Our in-depth programs serve kids ages 8 to 17. π
21.02.2026 21:31 β π 4 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Today has been weird and good and also not so good but Joe is still pulling up clips of Alysa Liu on ice and the podium ceremony with her dad weeping .... πππ
21.02.2026 02:25 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My very long ago, totally ordinary crisis of faith and church exit (and near excommunication) came howling back into my mind in recent days. Here's why. I overstayed my welcome at Sacred Grounds Cafe this morning typing it up, and awkwardly cried while I sipped my coffee refills.

Joe: It's called skimo
Me: WHY

20.02.2026 05:10 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Eleven BWorks Earn-A-Bike students and two teachers make silly faces in front of BWorks' headquarters during their group photo on Day 6 of their six-session class on bike safety and basic maintenance skills.
After the rain earlier in the day, it's turned into a beautiful evening for our first Earn-A-Bike graduation ride of 2026! These rock-star students and teachers are capping off six weeks of commitment, learning and fun, and we're so proud of them.
20.02.2026 00:01 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I'm finally getting my letters to the senators done (you have until just noon!!) and I'm typing fast and my "please oppose this bill" accidentally came out as "please oppose this bile"
19.02.2026 16:53 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0An average, tiring, worthwhile @stlbworks.bsky.social Wednesday ππ²ππβοΈ
19.02.2026 05:15 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well tomorrow this same bill is going to try for the senate since they had no traction with the house and so many of you sent in letters of opposition! Please help again!
18.02.2026 21:54 β π 5 π 4 π¬ 0 π 1To unnecessarily deport a sick baby and his entire family is heinous. My staff and I are in contact with Juanβs family.
18.02.2026 00:49 β π 3131 π 577 π¬ 16 π 19These people are the evil I was warned of in Sunday school by the very same people who now very much support this evil.
18.02.2026 01:41 β π 4 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0The legitimately innovative thing about AI is that it is a completely bottomless pit. It's swallowed up:
- all energy sources
- all our data
- all investment dollars
- all new jobs
- all capex
- all attention
- and now, all hardware components
with absolutely no end in sight. Nothing will satisfy.
Tomorrow you may see James David Vance or some other purported Catholic from this administration with ashes on their forehead, itβs important to remember that itβs all just for show.

18.02.2026 01:34 β π 5 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0"But I also know that using generative AI robs them of experiences and practices that I find valuable. (In this way I am the parent who earnestly claims, 'Iβm not mad; Iβm just disappointed.')" 4/4
17.02.2026 22:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0"I understand the incentive structure that leads some students to use it. I understand that students live in a world and attend a university that both treat generative AI as a fait accompli, and that they are terrified of being left behind by an increasingly cruel and cutthroat world. ..." 3/X
17.02.2026 22:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I want to sit with this part in particular, and hope others will too:
"I spent a lot of time settling on the word 'gloom' here. I think it works to capture that I am not, say, offended by students using AI or even that it angers me in some way. ..." 2/X
This piece by @sophist.monster is the best thing I've read on generative AI to date. I need to read it again already. 1/X
17.02.2026 22:56 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0Missouri Republicans are a death cult. Cutting safety inspections, cutting health care options, gutting food assistance, gutting, cutting public transit funding, cutting child protective services, etc etc. For a group that professes to be pro life, they seem to love to see people die!
17.02.2026 15:26 β π 14 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0Do all the people who voted in favor of this never have to go to work or school or anywhere at all? Because it is increasingly UNSAFE on our streets and highways for all involved. Literally one of the most obviously escalating areas of violence these days
