I was too busy pedaling up onto the sidewalk moments later as a sports car got angry at the car in front of him a block or so back from me and roared his engine through the bike lane (thank God there was a curb cut)

I also asked a worker on Russell today "if we could not park in the bike lane?" And he cursed me out

I had the worst burrs on me because I had to dodge the entire sidewalk closure of the 20th street build underway up in St. Louis Place. They were ridiculously stabby and I can commiserate. We shouldn't have to wear boots or long pants just to travel around the city.

• We expect a community where no driver leaves a child—or any person—in the street after a crash, regardless of who is at fault. 5/9

I used to clean/trim. City won't because it doesn't have a street number + street name address. 🤦‍♀️

Yeah. It's pretty but this is still not safer! Also there are a lot of times on the new 7th where I have a VERY long straight red light for bikes only while all the cars get a long green? I guess because they can turn but like what if they had to yield? It takes a long time to go just a few blocks

I tried giving the fancy a try on the way back, going out of my usual way on more dangerous streets to access the shiny new thing on my way back to the bus. And tada! 😂😭 #STL

I now have sharp stickers all over my legs and sweatshirt from trying to not die while biking near City Hall from my bus

How can I possibly applaud the flashy ribbon cuttings and shiny promises when wheelchairs, kids, babies and bikes have to wade through a scratchy, unsafe forest along Tucker? Why can't we take care of basics, #STL?

What I want is to compel Stephen Miller to feel the things I feel, to make him cry uncontrollably, as I did, when he sees a 2-year-old cling to the father who has just returned from a week in ICE detention. But I cannot make Stephen Miller do that, so I would like very much to beat his ass.

It is a cascade of inhumanity unconsidered by its authors and truly monstrous in its details and breadth, and I hope everyone will consider that EVERY SINGLE DETENTION is a repetition of this complicated, terrible torture of innocents.

When you are really relaxing

Lifelong pal @alisonflowers.bsky.social sent me this blast from the past. We used to do DIY glamour shots and they dressed me up in this fancy outfit and curled my hair, circa 1995? She says I should make it my LinkedIn pic, and I think I agree -- I've never looked that professional since 😂

That corner is one of the worst offenders, but also I walked lots of Soulard yesterday and they definitely aren’t the only offenders. People sure get mad if you tell them their golf carts don’t belong on sidewalks.

I agree. We should all take care of each other and golf carts should not automatically come before kids on bikes. Or people in wheelchairs or pushing strollers.

I get that it's not the employee's fault at all, but it surprised me that they would never even encourage folks to look out for doing this. There were four golf carts on the sidewalk on that corner alone, and cars blocking the curbcuts. No concern for kids despite being across from a school.

I went in the restaurant and asked for this to be addressed and they said there's no way they would ever make an announcement asking their folks not block the sidewalk and curbcuts. Cool!

Hey #STL drivers: Stop blocking curbcuts and sidewalks with your vehicles, please. Yes I realize this might mean walking 50 feet here and there. But on the bright side, you won't be forcing people into the street!
