I'm probably overcompensating for the lack of spookiness of everyone else during the dark months.

It's been a hell of a year on all fronts for everyone and I'm returning to my lane: harnessing the power of our community to help folks.
Our first donations have already come in, can you be next? Please share.
Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.
Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.
They are not the same.
Gotta say as a medieval historian I find it baffling. Like babe I promise you, you love electricity.

Frog chases after Toad's list, blowing away in the wind, while Toad stands still, arms crossed, refusing to chase after it. From "A List" In *Frog and Toad Together*

To paraphrase Simone Weil (the better Simone) in THE NEED FOR ROOTS, the difference between a need and a desire is that a need can be sated, and desire never can be.

This reminds me: I need to donate to Wikipedia.
A tangential thought not brought up here but worthy of its own thread is how this informs the development of such tools; the goal that therefore naturally arises from that impetus is to build the most "human-shaped" tool possible without crossing into the socially unacceptable territory of slavery.

An embroidery on deep purple linen. There is a purple outline of a feminine right hand from the side, palm up, fingers curled slightly inward. There are many tiny white French knots covering the fingertips and light blue, gold, and navy French knots on parts of the palm. There are fine filigree lines connecting many of the French knots and white strands of thread strung from each fingertip to an apex above the hand. There is a starburst floating above the palm in white and light blue.Β
