And I’ve been trying to find a postdoc environment with a meta-scientific agenda to address this, but it’s discouraging to see that applied fields don’t appreciate such work at all, while methodologists feel little pull toward a specific applied domain outside of central psychology.

Actually, it can be even worse in some applied fields, where many researchers never had any training in methodology and (actively) undermine error culture. There is a serious “validity crisis” where many findings are already statistically invalid before any replication is even necessary.
