what if i told you, through the power of forensic analysis, we are closer than ever to knowing the exact Far Side cartoon that is making Sting smile in this iconic photo. 🧡 πŸ‘‡

The Sewer Was Always Beneath Us
The dystopia is not that we discovered the sewer. It is that we were told β€” repeatedly, by people like Kendzior, by survivors, by whistleblowers, by journalists who paid with their careers, their safety, and sometimes their lives β€” that it was there. Danny Casolaro knew.
The victims of Jeffrey Epstein knew when they were children. Kendzior knew and documented it across two
meticulously researched books, Hiding in Plain Sight and They Knew, and was threatened with death for the trouble.
The dystopia is that the sewer was mapped, its contents catalogued, its architects named β€” and the response of institutions, media, and the public was to look away, shoot the messenger, or simply wait for someone else to act.

NSA whistleblower Thomas Drake @witnessblower.net on Epstein revelations:

β€œIt is not merely that bad people did evil and terrible things. It is that the institutions designed to prevent those things…were captured, compromised, or rendered inert.”

AI companies will fail. We can salvage something from the wreckage | Cory Doctorow AI is asbestos in the walls of our tech society, stuffed there by monopolists run amok. A serious fight against it must strike at its roots

kind of funny that an olympian said they are here to represent "compassion, respect, and love for others" and some people automatically knew that was a statement against them

Former Washington Post journalists have launched a GoFundMe to help repatriate fired staff members who are effectively stranded in foreign countries.

One of the richest men in the world fired them from the paper and didn’t even pay to ensure they got home.

1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

We've only been aware of Trump's racism since a 1973 article about his real estate company refusing the rent apartments to black people, the first ever mention of his name in the NYT. That's why his Obama meme comes as a total shock. Who knew?

I'm used to having an actual verbal conversation with the other developer, guiding them on how to think and adjust their code. Relearning this process for Claude is without a doubt, not enjoyable. I miss real people.

I'm so used to dealing with edge cases from what's in my mind as I code; as I write the code I think of all sorts of edge cases. Almost never think of them when writing the spec and design. Treating LARGE CODE CHANGE reviews from Claude as if a Junior Dev wrote them is... hard.

phx.new |> generate a phoenix project

@fly.io We don't need Sprites or phx.new. What we need is reliability. When you read posts on Reddit (etc...) about where to deploy Elixir apps, everyone always shouts to skip Fly due to reliability issues. For the love of god, just spend your engineering effort there.

My sister and I (as kids): OMG, you are so pathetic! Just eat the cake!

Cut to me, now 44: I can't have dessert or a drink after 7pm, otherwise I have the worst night of sleep.

I spent the previous week figuring out the data models, personas, roles, workflows, screens. Implementation was straightforward. I knew how to fix all the errors Claude hit. This would have been 3-4 weeks of my life in the past.

Tidewave The coding agent for full-stack web app development

Sharing just cuz I used Claude Opus to make something similar last week for a client. I knew the data model, and I am well versed in Elixir and Ash. Within 8 hours I had a shippable full featured and tested product. Claude was amazing for Ash Policies. Tidewave.ai also made the speed possible.
