If there was an old house that burned down in collapsed in a fire, the soil going down to where you start finding rubble might be like one context. Then the rubble might be the next one, then the foundation, then basement, and into the soil below. Actually probably many, but you get the idea

A context is a particular layer of soil that you're working on. Contexts are usually defined by what's in them. Like you find a layer that is a context, and you work your way down to another layer that's completely different, that becomes the next context.

The best thing is they don't treat me like a student. They treat me like one of the archaeologists. I mean I guess that's because I am one even though I have my imposter syndrome lol

I had a lovely day excavating a particular context. It was an awful layer, with roots and rocks. And I loved every second of it 🥰🥰

Gosh, I love archaelogy

It hasn't been diagnosed, but I'm pretty sure that's what I have. My skin turns all these weird colors and looks like it's going through full out hardcore frostbite. I have to come in and like heat it up and then eventually it repairs. I mean it changes all kinds of blues and purples

I'm going to look today. I'm wondering how many other folks wear makeup to the archeology site. I hadn't really paid attention over the last couple years.

I just put on a little good sticking waterproof eyeliner, and a little brow darkener, but nothing else. hadn't really thought about it lol

Hooray for having done the language classes, even though I know you're referring to something in the past lol I wish they offered those where I am. I think that would be really interesting language to learn to speak

Tomorrow I will be starting a week of archeology in the field again. Wednesday through Friday, then Monday and Wednesday.

I don't do archeology professionally though I am a trained archaeologist. I do volunteer work at archeology sites that need it, which makes me happy 🥰

I can also now where a hoodie or a jacket when it's 80° f and be comfortable. Damn that's a change lol

Since I switched teams, I've become extremely sensitive to the cold. I also have rynards, The condition where your fingers get kind of like colorful when they get really cold because of circulation. I used to be very warm and almost immune to cold. Now, I crave warmth lol
