The cool thing about social constructs is if enough of us change our minds on them, we can make them change!

Stay safe, homies in Mexico.

Really unfortunate to see how quickly and the extent to which violence is breaking out across the country in response to the death of El Mencho.

I wish for safety and comfort for any of you affected and your families.

Jacob:
That’s too bad. 😞 There was no monetary incentive to spend time together when liquid asphalt formed a natural predator trap and brought so many Pleistocene megafauna to their collective deaths together.

Probably my favorite OnlyFans DM bot thus far. Opened with asking which Jacob I am and later I managed to get the bot fixated on the La Brea Tar Pits, which it claims to have pictures in on the OnlyFans page.

Map of floristic kingdoms, equated with biogeographic realms in the paper. The Holarctic includes most of North America north of Mexico as well as the majority of Eurasia (north of the Himalayas) and North Africa. The Paleotropical includes sub-Saharan Africa, the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia, and the islands of most of Oceania. The Neotropical includes most of the Americas from Mexico southward. The Australian includes most of Australia. The Capensis includes just the Cape of Good Hope. The Holoantarctic includes Antarctica and some southern islands, the southern stretch of Patagonia, and New Zealand.

Fascinated by the various biogeographic realms as they appear in Loini and Vynokurov, 2023.

I’m used to seeing the Palearctic and Nearctic but they’ve been merged into the Holarctic. Likewise, Afrotropical, Indomalayan, and Oceanic have become Paleotropical.

And the Cape gets its own.

My extinct hunting party:

-A Neanderthal buddy.
-Coelophysis as a chase animal.
-Gallimimus as a mount.
-A Haast’s eagle as an airborne scout animal and attacker.

We’ll be lightly Mongol-moding across the plains at high speed.

When I find a minor spelling error in a published academic paper, I feel smart and like I can do anything in the world.

Also I am working through collecting sources for a potential PhD thesis topic and will develop new fixation topics from this for sure.

Hey, evolutionists, if I really came from my parents, how come my parents still exist? Weren’t they supposed to turn into me?

Yet another epic logical win for young-Earth creationism. We should defund schools further.

“I think aliens must have built these monuments because it would take inordinate amounts of effort for ancient people to achieve that. It’s not realistic.”

Huh, homie? You never put inordinate amounts of effort into something to achieve an insane task? What have you been doing with your life?

There are currently more living dinosaur species than there are living mammal species. They have feathers and I hear some of them every morning when I wake up.

Also the people who think those things need to just volunteer for a dig and learn a thing or two. It’s fun.

Zdenek Burian’s 1970 depiction of Tarbosaurus, showing the animal in a lightly vegetated Sandy landscape with an upright posture, a curved tail, small pronated arms, and a bumpy scaly tight hide.

Zdenek Burian’s 1970 depiction of Tarbosaurus, showing the animal in a lightly vegetated Sandy landscape with an upright posture, a curved tail, small pronated arms, and a bumpy scaly tight hide.

Oo, that depiction is 100% taking notes from Zdenek Burian’s classic 1970 depiction of Tarbosaurus (then called Tyrannosaurus bataar).

Original Jurassic World Baryonyx design. It has a multicolored camouflage pattern, a Gracie form, and blue markings on its face.

To be fair, the Jurassic World Baryonyx is like terribly inaccurate and the actual animal would have been a lot skinnier too.

I wish they kept the original Baryonyx design from the Jurassic World website because it looks wonderful and avoids the series’s tendency to Godzillify its newer dinosaurs.

Not what you’re looking for but there’s a human muscle protein called titin that is massively complex and has the longest official chemical name, the longest word in English, at 189,819 letters.

My iPhone weather app says “Yellow Warning: Flood” but every time I look at that too quickly I see “Yellow River Flood” and get flashbacks to when a governor under the ailing Ming Dynasty broke the dikes in 1642 to attempt to drown the rebels around Kaifeng, killing hundreds of thousands.

I think there’s benefit even if you don’t name the people directly because a lot of people need to see crank ideas picked apart before they understand what the problem is when encountering someone in the wild.

The wildest thing about the tariffs for me is that my whole life before 2016, US conservatives had lowering taxes as a major talking point. And now that Trump is imposing taxes that affect basic affordability, he can’t understand how he’s losing conservative support on the issue.
