Wondering why the noodles were labelled "2x spicy"

The next day I am enlightened

There are a couple of themes - that's probably a better fit tbh, but in my youth the "plans to prosper you and not to harm you" was a big theme in evangelical circles

Christians have their own version of the Litany Against Fear. It goes:

'“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”'

The least we can do is try to ensure that our lucky people are good people

That joke certainly not raisin any laughs

A more pernicious error is then thinking "one shouldn't try"

But one does need to keep perspective about what the expected outcome actually is

This is the most important reply

You could just post the airplane red dots picture, sure. But it won't capture the all too human confusion at not understanding why you didn't get the rewards that others did

After reading I'll stick with my interpretation

03.08.2025 06:04 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

i.e. If the goal is to be happier then you should be doing more

If the goal is to reduce risk then the minimum seems fine

Without reading my guess would be more exercise has more of a reduction but breaking up a depressive episodes by doing the smaller exercises has the bulk of the reduction in risk

One person clogged a toilet once in Greece and now the entire nation puts poop covered paper in a bin next to the toilet

Just switch to bidets ffs

I didn't have a private instructor, just a friend's dad and uncle. My welding is pretty poor as a result. The sound it makes when you weld through the quarter inch tube still haunts me

Now you have to try and fix the hole? If my skills were that good I wouldn't have made the hole in the first place

Funny thing about people who put a "100% accuracy" threshold on AI. We're literally using AI solutions in our operational processes, and we got compliance sign-off when we showed the AI error rate was lower than human error rate. It's not about being perfect...

Same. Also my tendency to only jot down bits of things:

My pessimistic prediction

Why?

31.07.2025 08:38 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Agreed. Platforms should be split between expectation of privacy and no expectation of privacy. Secure messaging where even the platform can't read your messages - no back doors

Platform where there is a high risk of exploitation of minors (like Facebook messenger) - your messages can be monitored

31.07.2025 08:36 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

If the platform is meant to be for adults only and provides services with the expectation that all members are adults you can make strong argument for privacy and encrypted messaging that only participants have access (no backdoors)

31.07.2025 07:54 — 👍 2    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

There was an old Sam Harris podcast where he was advocating for back doors into messaging systems, can't remember the guest but he changed his mind and the solution is something I agree with.

If the platform is meant to enable messaging with minors (e.g. Facebook) then you can argue for oversight

One should have the choice though

What you don't know is that the maintenance period has been increasing

It's currently 11.5 years of maintenance for 4 seconds of runtime. The maintainers are growing concerned

Demo disks from computer magazines also had some great ones

There was a racing game where you essentially raced a sphere, only had one level on the demo but I played it over and over. It was super fun with great music
