頭と胴体の羽は巣立ちビナだと真っ白で、1歳で黒くなり、2歳からくちばしとアイリングも黒ずみはじめて、3歳以上の成鳥になるとどちらも真っ黒。てことでこの子は1歳なんだけど、カラス科でそこまで極端に羽色が変化するうえに性成熟前のほうが(人が見るかぎり)派手って聞いたことない気が。協同繁殖に関係する社会的シグナルなのかねえ

08.02.2026 11:15 — 👍 9 🔁 2 💬 0 📌 0「論理として間違ってるうえに人権をメタクソ蹂躙するしなんなら命まで奪う」よりは「論理として間違ってるけど本人が説得力をちょっと失う以外は誰も損しない」ほうがずっといいですね。でも、論理として間違ってることに気づいたなら使うのをやめるのがいちばんいいと思いますし、ポピュラーサイエンスの記事や本でも（あくまで僕の線引きで）踏みとどまれてるものもあれば超えちゃってるものもあります。この話はこれくらいでいいかなと思うのですが、いかがでしょう

08.02.2026 02:27 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0そういう読み方もできるかもしれませんが、「皮肉をこめて解体する」みたいなことのためにナチュラルヒストリーの知見がダシにされてるのを読むのは食傷気味で。別の問題として、種間の多様性を根拠にヒトという種内の多様性を擁護すると、ほかの動物はスペクトラムのどこか1点に位置づけられるけど、ヒトは1種で無限の多様性をもつかのような、別の形の人間例外主義に陥りやすいと思うんですよね（もちろん、実際はほとんどの他種の動物について種内多様性の知見が乏しいだけ）

ユカタン半島でのこの子たちの好みの環境がなんとなく把握できた気がする、n=2だけど

Many folks are aware that some birds come in different "morphs." For example, the Red-tailed Hawk may be medium brown, or a light beige, or almost black.
Did you know the Crested Owl has juvenile morphs? According to science, they are "Boopable," "Hoity-toity," and "Bedraggled."
A group of Dorygnathus use a Seirocrinus raft as a hunting ground for fish, when a big Eurhinosaurus suddenly breaches the surface.
This scene takes place in Germany during the Early Jurassic, around 180 million years ago.
