We're all doing okay here these days, the cats are also doing excitingly well, but I haven't accumulated the battery for actual social media yet *vanishes back into the aether*

A seven-layer salad stacked in a trifle dish. The glass bowl is somewhat obscured with condensation, but has layers of lettuce, hard boiled eggs, tomato, onion, bacon, peas, cheese, with a creamy white dressing on top.

So I guess it's Salad #7 that's today's 7 Layer Salad! Presentation very nice but wow the first couple servings were a mess to get out lol. Boys liked (eggs and bacon), though they did pass me all their tomatoes. Served with some homemade chicken strips, but prob didn't need to, it's a HEAVY salad.

A large complex salad fills a square plate: Mandarin orange slices, lettuce, breaded chicken, shredded red cabbage, almonds, chow mein noodles, dressing.

Thought I popped in to update the thread, guess I didn't whoops. Salad #6 was knockoff Applebee's Oriental Chicken (I love, surprisingly the boys were put off by the crispy noodles). I might have skipped July? Can't seem to find one in photos/on list...

Hi everybody. Now that C's back to school, I should probably have someone besides cats to converse with. Dipping my toe back into socials on shop accounts (cyanandsepia here and IG), but may tap in with personal again, I miss some folks!! but don't miss the firehose so maybe Imma make some lists ha.

A large wooden salad bowl with salad hands set in, salad made of a gazillion ingredients. Romaine, tomato, eggs, potatoes, green beans, tuna, cucumber and radishes somehow less visible given how many are in there, onion, olives.

Salad #5: Niçoise! I read up on all the ingredient controversies and then just went with Budget Bytes' version in the end haha. Not our fave (for different reasons among each of us), but definitely a solid meal of a salad! Tuna a better fit than I expected.

Not sure if I'm gonna be extra online for distraction, or not at all to avoid more overwhelm. But thoughts prayers vibes etc all appreciated right now.
(Not-unexpected but still very hard extended family situation that's changing rapidly; don't wanna post details to world but mutuals ok to DM me.)

Things in the US are pretty much shit right now, but at my kid's school concert tonight a trans kid sang and played ukulele in front of the entire school & their families and absolutely fucking nailed it, to thunderous applause. Trans people and trans joy has always existed, and always will. ❤️

this is maybe trite at this point but it is in your interest to find ways to create things. basically everyone wants you to be consuming nonstop. making stuff, from cooking to photography or whatever, can help you feel more in control. doesn’t even have to be something you share with other people

View down a steep driveway and across a valley, which fills up with fog halfway across a field, obfuscating anything beyond that point. Driveway is wet from rain, trees and half-wild yard to either side are a lush rich late-spring green, leaves mostly out.

There's a mountain across the way there somewhere, though you'd never know it this morning.

(And yes, that is an awfully large gap in the doorframe. Luckily this is in the sunroom, which is enclosed but a secondary addition to house, there's another set of doors between it and interior. I tried patching it one year but carpenter ants came in and threw all my caulk back at me.)

Little lizard buddies are not what I particularly wanted cat to hunt, but, a) glad he spotted it sneaking in when I hadn't, b) he's already caught flies and crickets to earn my favor, c) the lizards are FAST, over the course of several pets I've never seen one caught.

The mental/physical cost of running errands is way undersold. I had a comparatively easy loop of four things, only two of which involved leaving car, and I am wiped.
