Astonished by the resilience of this Yorkshire Sandwort Arenaria norvegica subsp. anglica on Ingleborough the other day. Growing on a tiny scrap of moss on a bone dry slab of limestone during one of the longest spring droughts on record. 🫑 ✊

People suffering most from climate crisis unable to cope – activist The best way to solve the environmental crisis is to tackle the problem of inequality - that's the argument made by Tony Juniper in his new book β€˜Just Earth’.

We've experienced all sorts of weather in the past few months, but something we can always look forward to - whatever the season - is the wildlife 🌱

Our countryside ranger Pete has some great tips for spotting species πŸ”

That new land use policy that the Tories call β€˜national suicide’? It’s urgent, essential – and their idea | Henry Dimbleby No, it isn’t a leftwing plot, it’s a proposal I authored for the Conservatives in 2021. And it could be brilliantly transformative for England, says Henry Dimbleby, managing partner of Bramble Partner...

β€œWe need to reverse the collapse in biodiversity, before it threatens our own survival. Without pollinators or healthy soil micro-organisms, we won’t be able to grow enough food to feed ourselves.”

On the 75th anniversary of the legislation that led to the creation of National Landscapes, we're looking to the future. We crunch the numbers on the outsize role National Landscapes could play in delivering 30by30 if adequately resourced.

Snow on ground, single gate, freezing fog with sun peeping through the mist above the gate.

From a while ago whilst walking on a quarry track at Orton Scar in winter in #cumbria, #uk Freezing fog with some snow on the ground. The sun is there but weak. The isolated gate stops cars going to the Limestone Quarry further up the track.

With so much fantastic conservation work being undertaken to help Curlews both in the UK and elsewhere, our Christmas wish is for a great 2025 breeding season
