Exact production numbers are unknown, but it is estimated that only a couple hundred were produced and obviously way fewer than that still exist.

This is sort of a newer version of Chicago Coin’s popular 1969 EM driving game Speedway. Speedway supposedly sold over 10,000 units. Sales estimates for Motorcycle are lower, coming in at a couple thousand but you very rarely see the game today.

Chicago Coin released two versions of this game, one in 1970 and an improved one in 1974 with orange side art & a 3D marquee. The game even includes a blower motor that blows in the player’s face when the throttle is turned to simulate driving down the open road

This actually was a barn find that will eventually go up to the main floor of the Church Arcade in Duquesne, PA.

An unknown number were produced, but according to searches the average production run of Taito pins was 500 to 1,000 units. Very few Polar Explorer machines still survive today in working order.

Once again, the layout for this machine was heavily borrowed from another game. This time it is very similar to Zaccaria Pinball Champ.

Williams produced 7,050 Blackouts. Far fewer Taito Vortex machines were made, but the exact number is unknown. It likely was between a few hundred and a thousand. Probably fewer than 100 still exist today, very few of which are in the US.

Many of the Brazilian Taito pins had essentially cloned layouts of US pinball machines. Vortex is similar to the 1980 Williams game Blackout, which was designed by Claude Fernandez

IPDB claims that 1,020 units were produced, but I’ve seen much lower estimates than that elsewhere. However-many were built, this is the only one that I have ever seen in person.

I’m not sure why, because I’ve played Alien many times before, but I was absolutely loving this game when I played it over the weekend. So much so that I strongly considered buying it and driving all the way back to New Jersey with it (it was for sale).

From what I can tell, the term “Howzat!” Is slang for “How’s That?” which is the traditional appeal that cricket players make to the umpire when they believe a basement is out
