Same for me. I play long and short games but rarely finish games over 10 hours.

I think people that complain about short games think they lack content, but the short games don't necessarily have less content, it's just more dense and respects the player's time.

The trick that modern AAA games pull is to make them "time suckers" to create the illusion of value from playtime.

The content (mechanics, stages, etc) that many 30+ hour games have could be condensed into < 10 hours.

Of all the Master System games I've made so far this would be the easiest to make a sequel for, but as a full platformer.

We have translators for Brazilian Portuguese, French, Spanish and German.

I completed the full game on real hardware tonight, and it seems to work fine on numerous emulators. I've sent the game to play testers for their view. 🫡 #mastersystem #homebrew

I had to break the 32kb ROM size to make the music fit. I tried several different compression options but no good. I considered a more basic soundtrack but it didn't seem to suit the game.

On the positive side I was now able to improve the title screen and backgrounds and the game feels more whole.

I've been working on the Astro Climber manual today. It will be in colour with illustrations and will be easily printable.

I'm also working on providing translations in various languages.

I've tried to make it so that you can avoid each enemy in multiple ways, you can stun them, avoid, wait, or jump over for example. You just have to pick the right one in the chaos of the stage. #homebrew #mastersystem

Yes exactly, or because the SMS has 8KB RAM I decompress all 2816 bytes into RAM and the level can select what it needs from there.

Compression of the stage data has freed up over 2600 bytes! The priority will be to add a new enemy and some backgrounds. Sound and music is also being worked on. #homebrew #mastersystem

Keeping it simple is a constant battle for sure. I have tens of (maybe 100+) unfinished projects, maybe that's another reason why I impose these hard limits on myself now.
