Pretty surreal to say I’ve officially documented an EF5 tornado. The first EF5 tornado since Moore 2013.

Hoping to build out a more robust climatology of hailstorms like we have for tornadoes.

This is the first F5/EF5-rated tornado in North Dakota in almost 70 years (last F5/EF5 tornado was the Fargo tornado on June 20, 1957)

Just a reminder that NWS is considered essential during a government shutdown. Meteorologists will still go to work, forecasts will still be made, watches and warnings will be issued, data will flow. We won’t be paid until the shutdown ends, but we’ll still protect life and property as always.
