It’s taken a while to get families to buy our pre loved but we now sell it at events, washed and presented beautifully arranged by size etc and it’s finally taking off. School council sometimes sell it too which helps as they insist people look!

Many, many years ago as a primary deputy my Head went on long term leave. I had a young child so the CofG blocked me being acting head. He felt being a mother and Head were not compatible. A male member of staff (not on the SLT) was given role instead. Still feel anger all these years later!

It really is the best job. Take your time with change, find a head you trust and ask questions all the time (no question is ever too silly), be visible to children/ staff/ families and most importantly enjoy it! Good luck

I too would love to give TLRs but could only do this by reducing support staff which would make the job unmanageable for others. I spend my life finding ways to shave a little bits here and there just to sustain our current structure
