I've been trying it out with Death Stranding which hovers around 40fps with FSR2 upscaling (which introduces a huge amount of artifacts and doesn't even render rain for example).

With Lossless Scaling you only need to target 30fps so you can render at native res and generate the rest of the frames.

Someone ported Lossless Scaling's Frame Generation to Linux and it's absolutely transformational on the Steam Deck.

Lock a game to 30fps and use 2x frame generation to hit 60fps.

It works so well it feels like magic. 🀯

Playing Death Stranding for the first time and surprised how well it runs and looks on a Steam Deck. πŸ₯°

Just finished playing Supraland (and the DLC) and doing absolutely everything.

It's probably the best puzzle game I've played since Portal. It's *that* good, and criminally overlooked.

I have a new article out.

It's about a better technique to create grainy gradients, without the big problem that layering a noise layer brings: altering the original gradient palette (to a greater or lesser extent, depending on the approach used).

The promise that wasn’t kept AI is distracting us from creating real value. While we chase speed and automation, meaningful and human-centered work is getting left behind. Is this progress?

This is the content we need to be reading now in response to AI spreading through our industry like an illness. As Salma says, β€œThe maths isn’t mathsing”.

πŸ‘€ Coming to Chrome DevTools in Chrome 138: CSS Value Tracing

When you hover a --custom-prop in a `var()`, DevTools currently shows you the computed value. From Chrome 138 onwards, you can hover the `var` part to see how CSS actually got to that value.

It's worse than that. That's 85 hours on a Steam Deck actively playing it and not leaving it idling. 🫣
