Giving people money fixes the problem of not having money. But not sure what fixes the problem of healthy affluent people not having empathy for others.

Maybe instead of million dollar homes a solution is to say housing is a human right (even for people who aren’t perfect)

But for me the questions aren’t ontological but practical and political- what does focusing on individuals do vs focusing on power, discourse, institutions.

If we are discursive subjects then we are shaped with language, ideology, a social world. Im 9months pregnant right now and my little riot girl is amazing but I think she becomes a person through talk and touch and time and I’m pretty excited about that.

Again I don’t think psychology is the explanation - choosing this makes it an individual focus on persons which you can either heal or moralize rather than looking at the institutions and powerful forces which make this happen.

What I’m saying is right wing narrative is effective bc it makes you in socially valued models of personhood (good trad, strong alpha) binding person, value, ideology together. Also that I don’t care about their feelings or personae I care about the people targeted by the right.

Propaganda ofc has to be believed and invested in to matter, but not sure narratives play into a fixed psychology rather than shaping personhood. the explanations we foreground shape our solutions/ political commitments- stopping far right power& institutions&discourse vs healing far right souls.

I think discursive and social explanations are to be preferred over psychological. not sure there even is an authenticity except in this construction as a lost thing to be recovered- we don’t speculate about souls but as why these acts, languages, politics come to be seen as a way to personhood

I think maybe in today’s moment there’s a search for the authentic- of which the Nazi unity of land, culture and race is made to seem like the apotheosis. But also fuck them, they should have an authentic relationship to shutting up and stopping being Nazis
