It’s definitely weird to think that a good life is one with just the right amount of continuity.

Now every time a new Knights of the Seven Kingdoms ep drops all my brain can think is some version of β€œKnights of the the seven inches flacid in winter”. This is not a complaint, just an observation.

It’s also super funny to watch the right try to make a moral argument of any sort at this point. Sorry my dudes, that ship has sailed, caught fire and sank.

Partly true! Dems working in those institutions will have to do some normalizing to cope. Downplaying, willful ignorance etc.

Maybe they’ll try to go back to using subtext once he dies, but I kind of doubt it. Being racist is sticking it to the woke, which is all that matters anymore.

06.02.2026 14:46 β€” πŸ‘ 22    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

I worry that folks don’t realize just how normalized this stuff is on the right at this point. Southern strategy is done, we’re back to people openly defending overt racism, and have been for a while. I think the self-denial is strong for those whose jobs depend on pretending it ain’t so.

Hey, if you know someone who studies beliefs about conspiracy theories, maybe check in on them and see how they're doing. Make sure they're not drinking alone at least.

Meme of a scene from Parks and Recreation where a woman is disgusted at a guy, with the text of her asking "CBS why are you like this?" and the guy responding "Deep Space Nine, baby!"

I've generally enjoyed the show so far, but the newest episode of Starfleet Academy is extremely good and you should watch it and feel things.

I will not read a piece by Ross, even if he takes a loss. I will not read it while in bed, I will not read it in the head. I will not read this shitty man, I refuse to suffer Sam-I-Am.

Intellectual humility doesn’t require us to be open to absolutely anything being true | Aaron Rabinowitz

It is right to have epistemic humility, and awareness of the limits of our knowledge - but that doesn't mean we need to be open to absolutely every possibility.

In particular, I argue that a sort of intellectual pessimism has arisen that has the opposite of its intended effect. Instead of making people less susceptible to harmful false beliefs I worry it actually increases their risk of epistemic spirals. New Atheism is just the most glaring example.

I wrote a piece on intellectual humility and why it can be a problem to focus too much on attacking certainty rather than knowing when it is okay to be very confident about claims. I look specifically at problems in movement atheism and skepticism. Enjoy!

Popular billionaire who talks to Ross Douthat about other people being the antichrist: Sure is fun to loot late-stage capitalism. There are zero guardrails!
