elite special teams has been a far bigger factor than goaltending. they just haven't had avg or slightly above avg goaltending in a while so it seems better than it actually is. they're a top 4 team over the every teams last 10 in xGA, outperforming GA.

their depth is so much better. that 3rd line looks dangerous, 2nd line gambles fit perfectly, Wotherspoon & Shea are actually good... it's more than just goaltending (which is slightly above avg, certainly not at the level of masking anything)

I mean, they're actually a good team AND there's no reason to sense they're abandoning any aspect of the way they're rebuilding this. (the hyperbole of a certain Athletic writer is funny tho)
