Andi’s spite could power an entire city 😆

Lou's goal shifts a bit earlier than the other two main characters; the catalyst for her embracing her pact with Evagoras (the soul of the swordsman inhabiting the sword) becomes a major focus in the second arc of the overall story.

Livia wants to escape the arranged marriage she's been forced into because she initially believes it will take away all of her autonomy and freedom. She wants to make her own choices, and have her own adventures, not play house with some man she barely knows...

Andi wants power because of her own pride. She wants to prove her family wrong, and show that her exile wasn't a detriment, but a boon. She doesn't want to bend to their expectations: being successful on her own is a huge part of how she deals with her feelings about them.

#PlotTober Day 7: Well, Lou's original goal of getting rid of the weird sword she found has a little to do with protecting her family from potentially dangerous magic and a little to do with her own aversion to responsibility.

I gave up on Inktober so early this year, but that’s just the reality of living with depression. A sudden storm comes on and ruins all your plans. But it’s ok - I’ve got plenty of art I want to do this month, just maybe not the daily pressures of that sort of challenge 😅

As for Andi, she wants power! And she refuses to become what her family wants her to be (even if it means exile). Livia wants to escape the arranged marriage she’s been forced into, and gain back her autonomy. Both of their goals evolve, as well, as the story continues.

As you might expect, things aren’t so easy. Lou & the sword, called Bloodfury, have formed an unexpected blood pact. Her goal evolves as the story continues
- and she matures - until she realizes she actually wants to inherit the legacy of the swordsman who’s soul has been trapped within the sword.

#PlotTober Day 6: Lou had no real goals until she stumbled upon a magical talking sword. At the start of my WIP, she wants to get rid of the thing, so she takes it to Arascain, the capital of the nation she lives in where she can hopefully hand it off to the wizard tower there and be done with it…

All three are relatively young women - in their early twenties (by human & elf standards, meaning Andi is technically older than the other two but mentally around the same age).

And finally, we have Livia! She’s a noblewoman who’s family recently married her off (against her will) to the Duke of Arascain and must navigate her new role as his wife and the mistress of his estate.

The second main character is Andraste (“Andi” for short), a prideful young elf who’s been exiled from her homeland. She seeks power, specifically of a necromantic nature…

The first main character is Lou. She’s a carefree woman in her early twenties from a small village, who lives on her father’s farm with him and her two brothers. She’s got very few ambitions in life beyond eating good food & kissing cute girls until she stumbles upon a magical talking sword…

#PlotTober Day 5: my WIP has three main characters! And then I’d say, three main supporting characters. And then a whole bunch of additional supporting characters, of varying degrees of importance.

#PlotTober Day 4: my WIP takes place in the fantasy realm of Caessenia. It’s not called that anymore, however: it’s been divided into seven separate nations, some controlled by humans, some by elves. Actually - here’s a map I drew (still need to add cities, nation borders, etc)

#PlotTober Day 3: oh for sure, my main inspiration was actually a D&D campaign a friend and I played together a few years ago. Besides that - classic high fantasy like Lord of the Rings and the works of Brandon Sanderson were also inspirations! (Perhaps unsurprisingly 😆)

The inclusion of my favorite fantasy trope: there WILL be a sentient, sassy, talking sword. Is he evil? I guess that’s up for debate!

Other themes I know I’ll include: arranged-marriage-to-lovers, lots of LGBTQ+ identities & relationships, and an “undercover” sex worker character.
