Day spent yesterday at #Dartington Hall for our Torbay Symphony Orchestra concert. Beautiful location and gorgeous music. Also a two Barn Owl day! One seen on the estate at around 4.30pm. Then, driving home after the concert, saw another on a fence post by Sandridge Barton π. Remarkable!

Slightly closer, twig-infested video of the Black Redstart in our garden again this morning. Can also hear the Blackcap countering away nearby. #brixham

Finally got a bit of video of the Black Redstart thatβs been around our #Brixham garden over the winter. I havenβt ever heard it calling before today. Lovely little fella.

This Blackcap has been giving it the beans in an adjacent garden over the last week. Presumably still a wintering Northern European / Scandinavian bird warming up before heading back? π

Black Redstart around our Brixham garden for the last few days. Presumably this is the same overwintering bird that was last seen in December. Juv / Fem type. ππ

Heard the gulls going mad at 2.20 this afternoon and rushed outside to see what it was - a White-tailed Eagle heading over Brixham! π
Later seen heading down the Teign and over Teignmouth.
Very pleased with that garden tick!

Blackcap with pollen around face and beak after feeding on Camellia flower.
Blackcap apparently feeding on nectar from Camellia flower.
Two male Blackcaps around some next door Brixham gardens over the weekend. They were apparently feeding on the nectar in these Camellia flowers. You can see the pollen all over the face of this one. Apparently Blackcaps regularly feed on nectar- I imagine not that often in December!

Drove over to Torcross and Beesands on Friday in the sunshine. With some help from a much better birder, found the Lesser Scaup and the Ring-necked Duck. On the way back past Slapton Ley, I clocked a big white egret and managed to pull back in and get a better look: GWE π
