The Exploring Risk Visual Arts Festival is hosted by the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR) at Durham University, UK, the Center for Disaster Studies-Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, India.

Exploring Risk with Film: The Exploring Risk 2025 website will showcase up to 30 short videos of 1-3 minutes. A panel from across the host universities will select a long list of up to 30 videos. Durham University will host an in-person and online screening of all long-listed films on, 20 May 2025.

Exploring Risk with Images: Up to 30 still images at A0 will be physically showcased for three weeks (up to 20 May 2025) in Durham University’s Teaching and Learning Centre, at other host universities, and on the Exploring Risk 2025 website. A panel from the host universities will select the images.

Exploring Risk 2025 explores stories of increasing resilience through visual arts approaches. We are looking for visual depictions of how communities and individuals adapt, endure, and thrive amid complex global shifts from environmental to societal crises.
