10.08.2025 11:42 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Pet peeve: increased exponentially doesn't mean "by a lot", it means "increased at a rate directly proportional to its size".
For a large exponent, year this is a huge. For a small exponent, very small.
You need many data points to say something is increasing exponentially. For-sure not just two.
From where I sit, Bark Social was less noisy than either Rt 1 or DCA
07.08.2025 13:34 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I love this series. We should get together at the company of books and talk books!
07.08.2025 01:59 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0The Company of Books accepts used books from noon to 4 pm M-F. Anything they won't take, I'd drop off at the Library.
06.08.2025 13:53 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Right. And still no good would come of cash bail.
31.07.2025 19:07 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I agree and also try freetaxusa
It is actually free (federal) and not a scam. We do it with a mortgage and deductions. Totally free.
Unless you mean something more complicated.
Anyone have experience installing solar on a white roof on a townhouse?
Let me know.
Related to the obvious: I'm against cash bail. It makes it easy for the wealthy to evade, and destroys the families of the innocent who are taken capture
On the other hand, denying bail when a judge believes someone is a threat to the community is entirely different
End cash bail is the main thing
I am also interested in a particular animal cruelty board hearing. Do you know where and when it is?
31.07.2025 14:06 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0ok, this is the church at 1400 Russell Rd, yes?
It's on 1.25 acres. That's large enough for a 5 over 1, or on the close order of 20 townhouses including a service alley.
Which also means its large enough for a high rise.
Let's hope.
Hooray duplex!
double hooray housing for those in need.
When this broke on Tuesday, I was angry. Now I'm sad
I am against cash bail in all cases, very much including this one. Freedom should be free, plus it doesn't work
I am ok with denying bail where there is reasonable belief the defendant is a threat to others or a flight risk
This seems like that
It's another reason I like townhouses: Harder to knock 'em down and build mcmansions.
24.07.2025 13:43 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Here's where I'm at: I have trusted this place and it is part of my community. The employees have been kind and seem to love dogs. My dog is happy when she goes
That trust is broken, the sense of trust harmed.
So for me the question is: What will they do moving forward to get back into community?
The crime is unacceptable. The cover-up is worse.
What got me is the claim that Rankin, head of the AWLA, lied in an official affidavit. That's uh, that's a lot to claim.
Even if true: ok, now explain the video evidence and the indictment from a grand jury.

21.07.2025 13:37 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0To give in particular the Romans?
That's easy: The Arabic numeral set.
I'm not a big fan of "commanders", as there's Captains and Admirals and Generals and such; lots of ways to get outranked.
But the Monuments? That's a DC tradition and nothing outranks The Monuments!
Wait - bit of a threadjack but curious - in Alexandria JURORS can't bring in their phones .... while they wait and wait for something?
That's one thing Arlington's better at, then: Jurors can specifically bring in phones for while they wait.
I believe there are good ideas in there
In particular: Project Warp Speed was fantastic and no one is taking credit for it
The further notion that more government spending should be akin to PWS, with "meta-science" directing spending? Eh, maybe
But, government focus when there's an emergency? Yes
I read Mamdani's issues on Wikipedia. I think I see what the billionaires are upset about: free busses.
what sort of crazy leftist policy would have a free bus system?
Also: billionaire taxes paying for free college, affordable housing, free health care, free child care.
I don't see a problem
Yes, and: So long as there is no physical differentiation between road and bike lane, this will happen.
If there's a line of planters, or different elevations, or any sort of modal filter, then it happens less.
Not none, but less. But as is, this is frequently a systemic issue
You know this. :-)
I'm seeing it this Friday. This is exactly what I wanted to hear.
09.07.2025 17:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Of course its wrong - but so is all physics. i'd ask: Is it useful?
04.07.2025 15:05 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0How can it be so hard to make a dinosaur movie? Like, here's the formula: madman scientist makes dinosaurs! Up the ante from the last film. Some scummy person inside Dino company steals from them, making it worse. Kids + scientists save the world. Cue the t-rex and raptors.
Easy!
I love free dash. I bought a dash hat at pride at City Hall; I think that's the only money I've spent on dash. Happy to represent.
01.07.2025 14:10 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0In related news: Autonomy over your own food, bathroom, kitchen, choice of proximate coworkers, access to pets and loved ones..... makes you less sad.
It's almost as if being in a space you control, with people you actually like, is good for you.
I've seen signs about this for what, weeks? months?
What I've not seen is why. Why change all bus route names, change routes, etc?
This is a TON of effort - what was the problem that was addressed?
I've not seen that anywhere, and I'd really like to.
You are correct. I was wrong there. Error was, I was thinking about from the train track rather than the metro sign.
