Part of Taupō high school β€˜completely destroyed’, as two fire appliances fail Emergency services were called to the blaze on Spa Rd on Sunday afternoon, while Fire and Emergency NZ

Two fire trucks failing at a large fire is what firefighters have been warning about for a long time. Services need a government that will invest in them #nzpol

I found the NZ fairy tern / tara-iti! There are only about 50 adult fairy terns in New Zealand, making them the rarest bird that breeds here by far. It took a lot of trial and error (and some dumb luck) but yesterday, I succeeded! πŸͺΆ

β€˜I’ve lost my friends’: advocacy groups warn Australia’s social media ban risks isolating kids with disabilities Despite the ban’s aim to protect young people, experts are concerned that those in marginalised communities or living with disabilities could lose vital support networks

This was utterly predictable if you've ever actually tried to engage with disabled people for their feedback before passing legislation.

β€œThis country missed out on me being a doctor for 30 years, and it’s because of policies made up by these shitheads that kept me uneducated, kept me unemployed, kept me without a home, kept me in prison – rather than using a fraction of that to invest in my potential.”

'People we've never seen before': Homelessness in Wellington not letting up, agencies say Social services say they are seeing alarming numbers of rough sleepers in Wellington as potential 'move on' laws looms.

There's no question in my mind that the need we are seeing in our community, and the desperation of people's circumstances is greater than we've ever seen before."

Move on orders just shift the problem. This is not back on track it is callously pushing people out of trains.

My wife and I were on a beach in the Wellington area and found this at a car park, in the grass.

It is approximately the size of a person's hand, made of bone, and intricately carved.

I've masked the lower half,as only the legitimate owner will be able to fully describe it.

Please share this...(1)

I just trained over 60 volunteers, a good 80% of who have never been involved in a campaign before, to get out there knock on doors and connect with community and support Tamatha Paul.

That’s the most volunteers I have ever trained before in one sitting and I worked on the 2017 Labour campaign.
