we have PrEP because of these monkey studies. animal welfare in medical research is extremely strictly limited and regulated to ensure ethical use. there is no replacement for these animal models in biomedical research.

I can almost guarantee that any working man over 35 has been present when a woman was abused, dehumanized, or torn down. How many of you said something in the moment? Your push back matters; hers will get her fired.

In this correspondence, authors warn that multiple studies misidentified PF-05231023, using a commercial small molecule instead of Pfizer’s intended Fc-conjugated FGF21 analog CVX-343, resulting in misattribution of biological effects to FGF21 signaling

Scientists had to change more than 700 grant titles to receive NIH funding. Health disparities researchers fear what’s next The titles of more than 700 multi-year NIH grants have been changed this year, according to an analysis by Jeremy Berg, a former agency official

The NIH has insisted there are no banned words

But, an analysis by @jeremymberg.bsky.social found over 700 hundred grants changed their titles from '24 to '25

Some see it as a small price to pay to keep their grant, but others are worried about what comes next

Your Genes Are Simply Not Enough to Explain How Smart You Are Seven years ago, I took a bet with Charles Murray about whether we’d basically understand the genetics of intelligence by now.

In 2018, Charles Murray challenged me to a bet: "We will understand IQ geneticallyβ€”I think most of the picture will have been filled in by 2025β€”there will still be blanksβ€”but we’ll know basically what’s going on." It's now 2025, and I claim a win. I write about it in The Atlantic.

The New York Times piece today about US science is terrible and wrongβ€”in many ways.

I could write a whole article about this, but as one example:

β€œTo close observers, the original crisis began well before any of this…”
No. I’m a close observer of science, and this is incorrect.
