It's a room calibration device with the hardware sitting between the soundcard/output and monitors. You don't have to use a plugin in your DAW, which is great. It comes with a calibration mic and apps to calibrate your room and store settings to the hardware. So, yes, basically an EQ!

I've been using the @ikmultimedia ARC studio for a couple of weeks, and it's actually pretty good. I'm used to my monitors and my room and know the adjustments I make to compensate. So it was interesting to hear and see the analysis match with my own knowledge.
