Day two, now at 3,351/50,000.

Solid start, and today I got to write “The End”, because when this story landed in my head over a year ago, the final scene hit first, so that’s what I started with.

I wrote 1677 words today. Feels good. Elder kiddo is aiming for 5000 by month end. Youngest wanted in on the action, chose 20 words as a target. Then wrote the numbers 1-20 on a piece of paper and filled in the first 20 words she thought of. Wasn’t interested in making a story out of it. Perfection.

Kiddo challenged me to try nanowrimo again. I accepted, and decided to use an idea I had a year ago for a mid grade sci-fi. My swim this morning flew by, as I was lost to the world building going on in my head. This is going to be fun.

Fun part of Decorative Facial Hair season is picking fragrances. This year I went with Tea Tree for beard wash & conditioner, and a set each of Spiced Vanilla and Coffee & Whiskey for oil & balm,

And lemme tell ya, I smell lovely.

I think I’ve (uselessly) finally composed the perfect online dating profile: I’m the kind of guy that, upon opening a new package of single serving string cheeses with perforations between each packet, will separate each of the individual packets and then put them back into the original package.

15 years later, I haven’t done a tri in years (kids are a time suck), but the training mentality has stuck, the habit is formed.

I’m still training for some future race. I don’t know when, I don’t know where, but man, I’m going to crush it.

I hated exercise until I signed up for my first sprint triathlon. That transformed exercise into training. I loved it so much that I just kept signing up for races in places I wanted to see, and that kept me training. The logistics of fitting in 3 disciplines around work was fun, too.

Happy to report my hair grow-out process has achieve troll doll up-do length.

Go for it! I’d also highly recommend triathlon, especially if going for a marathon gets to be too much (or too boring). Same (or more) supportive energy, even at shorter distances.

I had a dream last night that Brad Pitt was my advisor for some high level biology-ish course. I was worried I hadn't done a good enough job on my final paper, but he was very reassuring that my data was solid, my arguments well stated, etc etc. He was very kind and reassuring.

It was weird.

When I was 15 I wanted to get on Letterman’s “stupid human tricks” segment so I tried holding a light bulb in my mouth & hooked the wires of an AC->DC converter to my braces to light it up like uncle fester.

I came to with a sore head and decided that trick was perhaps a touch *too* stupid.

That sounds like the kind of thing someone who doesn’t get enough sleep might say.
