Whenever I hear stories of "Canadian" animals spotted in the UK, I first wonder if they're the descendants of donated Canadian national park ones that escaped. It's happened.

Here are beaver heading to London, Eng, 1946. 2 died in the traps, another in transit. heritage.canadiana.ca/view/oocihm....

โ€˜No one knows where it came fromโ€™: first wild beaver spotted in Norfolk in 500 years Cameras capture lone creature collecting materials for its lodge in riverside nature reserve

Another day, another illicit species release: I suspect there are a few people who know exactly where this one came from (Bavaria, originally, I bet - it seems all Europe's illicit beavers can be traced back there), and quite a few more who have strong suspicions. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

A postcard featuring a color photograph of caribou mothers and their calves (approximately ten in total). A thick fog hovers over the land, lending a purple glow to the entire scene. The mothers graze on cottongrass. The lettering on the postcard includes the words "Arctic National Wildlife Refuge" at the top and the word "Alaska" at the bottom.

With the US Senate planning to vote today on Arctic Refuge drilling, here's a photo of caribou on the coastal plain (the same place intended for drilling). #envhist
