Open Science And A Robust IP Strategy: Life Sciences Can Do Both By sharing early-stage tools and data openly, life sciences companies can minimize duplication and de-risk R&D without risking exclusive rights over valuable assets, writes Richard Gold.

Simplistic models of #IntellectualProperty get in the way of building a biopharmaceutical company. Here I discuss how going #OpenScience can lead to proprietary rights later on: www.lifescienceleader.com/doc/open-sci... @conscience-network.bsky.social @tridentpct.bsky.social

Thank you, @tridentpct.bsky.social for the funding support. While the piece is on legal theory, it is foundational to understanding #OpenScience practices and the role that individual researchers, funders, and patients play in forming a consensus around open sharing.

Why Canada’s Vaccine Leadership Matters More than Ever | The Tyee We’re uniquely positioned to lead a revolution in vaccine technology. Here’s how.

Some sensible points, but still leaves an odd taste when an article is titled "Why Canada’s Vaccine Leadership Matters More than Ever" and highlights "how easily inequities can widen if infrastructure and access aren’t prioritized", given the role one author notably did NOT play in global💉equity.

NIH just early-expired its 1st & only software NOFO: “Building Sustainable Software Tools for Open Science.” Our proposal supported lab automation software infrastructure, with backing from major robotics companies. I guess “sustainable” is too risky now. So much for funding the STEM workforce.

What’s missing from the WHO Pandemic Treaty Fixing the root causes of vaccine inequity requires long-term investments in manufacturing, regulation, and market incentives.

"The Pandemic Treaty may be a diplomatic achievement — but also a mirror. It reflects a global health system still reliant on charity and unrealistic optimism. That model cost at least 1.3 million lives due to delayed vaccine access. Repeating those mistakes would be indefensible."
