The NIHR Oxford Health Clinical Research Facility is part of the NIHR and hosted by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. It is a dedicated centre for improving mental and cognitive health treatments through clinical research.
🧪Last week, we opened our new temperature-controlled BioStorage Service (BOSS), which increases sample storage duration and capacity.
🔬Samples can now be stored for later analysis using techniques that become available in the future.

The project is a national collaboration piloting biomarker testing in memory clinics, aiming to support earlier and more accurate diagnoses of Alzheimer’s disease.

CRF Team Lead Debbie Moll has graduated with an MSc in Professional Practice (Physical Healthcare) from Oxford Brookes University. Her dissertation explored whether people with aphasia find slower speech easier to understand.
Filiz Bristow from Oxford Health NHS Trust graduated alongside Debbie.

Members of the CRF team as well as R&D colleagues had a great day at Oxford Health NHS FT and Active Oxfordshire Have A Go Festival. The event invites people with learning disabilities to 'have a go' at a range of sports and activities.
The team spoke to people about 'having a go' at research too.
Deborah Moll, CRF Team Lead, co-authored a scoping review on economic evaluations in Speech & Language Therapy.
The evidence is growing, but we need a more coordinated research approach to understand SLT's economic value. Great collaboration with University of Lancashire, RCSLT, and fellow SLTs.

Some of our staff have spent the morning at Rose Hill Community Centre. These events help us connect with local communities, to discuss mental health, learn about their priorities and showcase some of our research.
We also got lots of help with the new mosaic for our courtyard!
