Been really enjoying making ps1-style textures. Painting shadows, painting little details and imperfections, faking depth, and keeping them consistent across the whole game.

Thank you for the examples! I did some research (I know, I haven't played any of those games) and I see what you mean. It's also common in horror games, especially from the ps1 era. I'm gonna roll with this cause it's gonna be very helpful storywise and for gameplay reasons.

Okay, maybe not all games cause I don't remember it happening in Silent Hill xD
But it happened for example in Medal of Honor and LSD Dream Emulator.

It's supposed to! This used to happen in ps1 games because I suppose the culling that was happening behind the camera, would happen too close to the camera, so you could see some of the vertices disappear sometimes.

Added vertex culling to the shaders and a simulated texture pop-in like you'd see on ps1 games. I might be going a bit too far tho...

Yeah, I wanted some noise ambience in the background that'd make the player feel a bit unsettled or not quite in the "normal world" and it came out well mixed with the wind and some other sounds you'll be able to hear (tho bsky did make the sound blown out with compression)
