I asked the one high ranking policeman I saw on 5th Ave why there were so few police. He said “We did not expect anything like this. Don’t tell anyone but I’ve only got 44 officers out here — and it’s a great crowd, great event, no incidents.”

newspapers are still bad at covering protests. They’re late to the game, they’re not sure how to write about, they default to what happened early in day or just in their city. Big dailies don’t put big picture writers on job.

If you're one of those "where are the protests" because the news has been ignoring them the past two months, there are 25,000 people gathered in DC today, and 20+ blocks full of people in Manhattan, and that's just two cities.
