Did anyone publish a novel last year about how the internet itself is an accelerator for mental illness & stochastic terror that works not just across ideological lines but as an active solvent of said lines, maybe presented in a slightly oblique way like idk a fake celebrity memoir? asking 4 friend

STEM major (smiling, well-dressed, rosy cheeked): hey, who's that bell ringing for?

English major (face stained with bitter tears, clad in filthy rags, tubercular): lol

It's also bad for critics in that every book coming out within a certain window is now competing to the one you write about. If there are two titles you really want to go to bat for but they're both published on Sept 16, good luck pitching the other one to the same venue for October or November.

Worst thing to happen to book crit was getting mercilessly synced to pub dates. writer gets 97% of the coverage they're ever getting by the end of week 2, & if the book is widely reviewed (positive or not) in prestige places some of your would-be audience burns out on takes & skips the book itself.

It's the A side of a 7" vinyl Against Me! release, featuring the songs "Jordan's First Choice" and "Those Anarcho Punks are Mysterious." Yellow text on black paper, to the right of the center hole (which btw is a unique little plastic thing, also yellow, that I don't know how to describe) it says 33 rpm and under that "it's us against them"

if we read OP's sentence literally she's actually saying that it is "the trope that this is what all litfic is about" that needs to be retired, rather than saying the scenario itself *is* the trope that needs retiring. in which case she agrees with you. what are the odds that's a viable reading?

have 1 hour at my school's listening room, want to give roughly half of it to 1 Phish jam. has to be findable on the lossless streaming service they use (presumably Tidal?) or a CD of my own so think about official releases. leaning toward a classic (A Live One Tweezer, eg) but taking suggestions
