A book open to Chapter Two

Chapter Two: Prue meets a hot guy at the library. (I wonder if he'll end up being eeeeeeevil.) She decides to do a photo shoot with a bunch of models dressed as Greek Gods.

You know, Piper realized suddenly, even my power is kind of boring. Naturally I can freeze time. After all, I'm totally stagnating!

In what world is Piper's power boring? Certainly not the one where her sister has the power to SOMETIMES know what is going to happen/has already happened.

Chapter One: Prue's boss offers her a chance at a cover photo. Piper thinks her life is boring. Phoebe meets a hot guy in art class. I wonder if he'll end up being eeeeeeevil...

Far be it from me to judge a book by its (back) cover, but I already have a couple of thoughts.

1: Prue's boss's challenge is just what most people would call her job.

2: The Manor is NOT a mansion.

Back of novel. Prue's editor at 415 magazine offers her a challenge: if she takes a really fantastic photo, he'll run it on the cover. This could be Prue's big break- if she can come up with a killer concept. Then Prue gets the idea to shoot a group of models in the Halliwell's Victorian Mansion. She'll even use an antique camera to capture the style of an old time photo. But when Prue snaps the shutter, all the models collapse into a deathly slumber! To rescue the Innocents, the Charmed Ones descend into Hades, fighting underworld perils and uncovering an unholy plot. To rescue the missing models, they must match wits with the greatest of the ancient Greek gods- and one of the sisters might not be allowed to return to her mortal life.

It's interesting seeing the different ways resistance has formed in different cities. Los Angeles Organized, Chicago Radicalized, and Portland Got Weird as Fuck. All 3 have had success unifying their respective cities.

I guess my point is there are multiple paths to ungovernability.

In this episode of 9-1-1 a character is in a coma and the whole episode is his coma dream. He realizes this and goes to another character who was also once in a coma (because that's the kind of show this is) and asks him about comas.

This one was a slog. I couldn't really tell you why because the writing was fine and the subject matter was interesting. I think maybe there was too much fighting and not enough quipping. A good Buffy story needs a balance of the two.

Chapter Twelve: a wrap up with Giles. Then Willow finally gets her own dream where she is Sarah's lover. Because of her deep soul connection with Xander.

There is a diner waitress, Edith, who is kind to Buffy and relatively unphased by demon activity. I really want a diner waitress in Sunnydale spin off.

A book open to Chapter Eleven

Chapter Eleven: The final battle. Buffy disrupts the ritual by throwing a steak* knife and the Master angrily drags his demons back to hell.

*Get it? A STEAK knife

Then, relieved, she found one soggy Dollar in her hip pocket. It was pressed flat; it must have gone through the washer/ dryer a couple of times. Buffy was afraid to unwrap it, but she clutched it like the lifesaver it was. Time to phone home again.

Time freeze! But also such a reminder of how fast technology moves. By the time Dawn starts high school, Buffy will gift her a cellphone. (Probably while remembering nights like this.)

A book open to Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten: All the possessed Salem demons + Buffy + Xander possessed by a Salem witch find themselves at a roadside diner together to reenact the summoning.

"Oh Romeo, oh Romeo, about time you showed up." Buffy had no idea if any of the zombies had enough brains left to be taunted, but she'd noticed a couple of them veering off in the direction Cordelia and Augie had taken. She needed them all to follow her, without exception, if her plan was to work.

Buffy, you don't taunt the monsters for them, you do it for yourself. And for love of the game.

Until the zombies head rose out of the ground, quickly followed by the rest of its body. At that moment, Buffy would have gladly traded all the stakes in creation for one good minute with a surface-to-air missile launcher.
