If the National Governors Association chooses to remain silent, Illinois will have no choice but to withdraw from the organization.

We should be standing as one against the idea that Donald Trump can call up the National Guard against our will.

When predators are near the natural reaction is to keep your head down and not draw attention. It probably won’t attack you anyways.

Trump should stop listening to Netanyahu and demand to be made suzerain of the West Bank also.

Seriously, take command and make it a Trump legacy project.

Armed investigators visit man who sent postcard critical of Florida CFO Ingoglia Two men wearing bulletproof vests and pistols at their side showed up at the Largo home of Cathy and James O’Gara over a postcard they sent criticizing the state.

"You lack values," two Florida grandparents wrote on a postcard they sent to state CFO Blaise Ingoglia.

Then two armed men wearing bulletproof vests stenciled with the word β€œpolice” showed up their door β€” they were from the criminal division of the state Department of Financial Services.

SCOTUS is foundational to our current problems.

I tend to push maximalist solutions (because why not?), but the reality is that there is a broad range of potential reforms which may be effective.

We need to start throwing stuff at the wall and see what sticks.

Think about this: at nearly the same time, Pam Bondi was refusing to answer whether the FBI had images of Trump and young girls obtained from Jeffrey Epstein’s safe, and Mike Johnson was refusing to answer when he would swear in Adelita Grijalva, who would be the 218th vote for the Epstein petition.

Sen. Kennedy with another set of probing questions about Epstein πŸ‘‡

KENNEDY: Have you interviewed Secretary Lutnick?

BONDI: No senator

K: Do you plan to?

B: If he wants to talk to the FBI--

K: Don't you think you ought to talk to him after this interview? Maybe we ought to get Lutnick in here

Yeah, it would.

It would be a big mistake for China to think they can do something cute while we are distracted.

Seriously, how sad would it be for them to get wrecked by a nation consumed with civil disorder at home? I doubt even Xi could survive that.

Their best move is to focus on growth.

FWIW, this is the theory that the extremists on the right expect (QAnon, etc).

The math doesn’t work out for every polling place in the country, but it does if they limit it to key jurisdictions.

It’s even easier to control the central counting locations.

Good for him.

The best way to protect ourselves from authoritarian overreach is for a large coalition of states to act in unison to provide an effective check on federal power.

It need not lead to a permanent dissolution of the union, but we must not shy away from the hard choices that confront us

But fundamentally, it's the elected leadership of the party that needs to lead β€” to outline a national agenda for the party that blows off these questionnaires and can plausibly compete across a large map of states. Then get the groups and the donors and everyone else on board. It's a difficult job, but the groups left to themselves aren't going to do it.

This part is key.

Elected leaders need to identify priorities and lead the party towards them.

There are lots of artificial constraints that the party has been operating under (like the U.S. Constitution, lol), which need to be set aside to enable a new politics grand enough to meet the moment.
