One of the key ways you refuse to comply with fascism is by becoming even louder and more fearless in supporting vulnerable people. You SHOW that you are unwilling to throw the "undesirables" under the bus if only for self-preservation because under fascism you will also become undesirable one day.

I think fundamentally, the ability to care about the rights of a small and vulnerable minority (of whom you might know no members) is an important sign of whether you are committed to human rights out of principle, or out of mere convenience.

I hate that our country has reached a point where these things happen, where people can justify murder and assassination for political differences. But to act like he was this wonderful human being... He wasn't. He said a lot of really awful things and had a lot of absolute garbage views.
